Graveside
services were conducted by Carl Cummings for Lewis J. McCormick, 73, August 8, with burial in Bedford
City Cemetery [Fairview]. Mr. McCormick died August 6, 1984 at Lenox, Iowa.
Lewis
was born January 20, 1911 and was the adopted son of Fred L., and Ethel Flowers McCormick. He grew to maturity southeast of Bedford, Iowa. Shum-Novinger Funeral Home was in charge
of the service. |

Last
rites for William Karl Cobb, 77, were held September 10 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home
in Bedford. Merle Yeager
officiated. Interment was
at Bedford City Cemetery in Bedford. Mr. Cobb died September 8, 1984 at his home near Bedford.
William
Karl Cobb,
son of Leslie R. and Nellie John Cobb, was born at Bedford, Iowa, May 29, 1907. He lived in Ross Twp. where he attended the public schools
and where he was a member of the Berea Church of Christ.
On
August 25, 1933, he was united in marriage to Alice Adel Thompson at Des Moines and they lived in
Ross Twp. where he engaged in farming.
To
this union one child was born: Elaine K.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.
Left
to cherish his memory are his wife, Alice, daughter Elaine and her husband Cliff Baldwin, grandson Todd, brother Wayne and his wife Margaret of Springfield, Mo., sister Norma and her
husband Bill Baker of Bedford, brothers-in-law Allan and Robert Thompson and their wives, Hazel and Ruth and many nieces and nephews. |

Funeral services for Alice
Cobb age 93 of Bedford,
who died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at her home, were held Tuesday,
November 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home with Pastor
Randy Allman officiating. Interment
was held in the Bedford City Cemetery. Memorials can be given in Alice's name. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of
Bedford.
Alice
Adel, only daughter of Arthur and Zetta Keith Thompson, was born November 10, 1911 on a farm in Ross Township,
[Taylor County] Iowa. She
lived in Ross Township all of her life with the exception of two years
when she lived in Missouri with her parents. She attended Ross Center Country School and the Bedford High
School.
On August 25, 1933, she
was united in marriage to William Karl Cobb in Des Moines, Iowa. To this loving union, one child, Elaine K., was born.
Karl and Alice farmed in
Ross Township, living on various farms until purchasing their present
farm from Karl's aunt in 1957, where she lived until her death on November
20, 2004.
Left to cherish Alice's
memory are her daughter Elaine Baldwin and husband Cliff of Bedford;
grandson Todd Perdew and wife Toni and great-granddaughters Lauren and
Carmen, all of Bedford; a brother, Robert Thompson and wife, Ruth, of
Bedford; sisters-in-law Norma Baker of Bedford; Hazel Thompson,
Bedford; and Margaret Cobb of Springfield, Missouri; special friend, Wayne Marley of Bedford; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces
and nephews, who all fondly called her "Aunty Al".

Hazel Thompson
Funeral services for Hazel
Thompson, age 90 formerly
of Bedford who died Monday, July 18, 2005 at the Nodaway Nursing Home
in Maryville, Missouri, where she had resided since 1995, were held
Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in
Bedford. Interment was held in the Fairview Cemetery
in Bedford . . . . Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral
Home of Bedford.
Hazel Mildred (Stephens)
Thompson was the youngest
daughter born to George B. and Anna Lou (Bartley) Stephens on a family farm near Bedford, Iowa on January 22, 1915. She grew up attending rural school in
Clayton Township and also the Bedford High School, graduating with the
Class of 1932. Hazel taught
in the rural schools of Taylor County for four years before being united
in marriage to Allen J. [oseph] Thompson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Allen and Hazel farmed across the road from the Berea Church
of Christ in Ross Township for many years before moving into Bedford
in 1963, where she worked at the Style Shoppe until retiring. Hazel was an active member of the Berea Church of Christ for
many, many years.
Hazel and Allen loved to
travel. They visited most
states, including Hawaii (bringing home a new rock from each one) and
some foreign countries. Their
favorite past time, however, was enjoying their children, grandchildren
and great-grandchildren. They
visited them often and were always there when someone decided to move
or needed help in any way.
Left to cherish Hazel's
memory are her three children Carol King of Maryville, Missouri; Kenneth Thompson and wife Pat of Minden, Nevada; and Billy Thompson and wife Pat of Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren Randy King of Maryville, Missouri; Jeff King of Guerneville, California; Terri Gallegos and husband David of Altus, Oklahoma; Tina Fletchall and husband Chris of Sheridan, Missouri; Troy Thompson and wife Angie of Maryville, Missouri; and John Morningstar of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother-in-law, Robert
Thompson of Bedford, Iowa;
seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
