Alfred
F. [ernando] Borden, 65, a
life-time resident of Taylor County, died at his home south of Sharpsburg
Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1952. He was a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife,
two daughters, Mrs. Irene Gold of Clarinda and Mrs. Pauline Sheley,
Guthrie Center and one sister, Nellie of Sharpsburg. The body was at the J. R. Crew Funeral Home in
Clearfield. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Sharpsburg
and burial was in Gravity cemetery.

Borden
Alfred
Fernando Borden was born Sept.
11, 1887, and died Oct. 1, 1952, at his home in Sharpsburg at the age of 65
years, 19 days. He was born one-half mile south of Sharpsburg and lived his
entire life in the Sharpsburg community.
He
united with the Presbyterian Church when a young man.
He
was married to Georgia M. [ae Ellen] Ditto, Feb. 23, 1909. To them two daughters were born, Pauline and Irene.
He
leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Georgia; two daughters, Mrs. Fay Sheley and Mrs. Irene Gold; eight grandchildren, Betty Joanne, Sharon,
Freddie, Pamela and Raynette Sheley, Mrs. Mark Burmeister, of Biloxi, Miss., Galen Gold and Richard
Gold, who made his home with his
grandparents; one great
grandson, Steven Mark Burmeister;
two sisters, Nellie Borden,
who made her home with him and Mrs. Ella Barkley of Sterling, Colo.; one brother, Homer Borden of New Market; one aunt, Mrs. Amanda Blair.
His
father, mother and four brothers preceded him in death.

for Georgia Borden
Funeral
services for Mrs. Fred (Georgia Mae Ellen) Borden, 86, of Sharpsburg were held November 6 at
Sharpsburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. C. Ray McCain officiating. Mrs.
Borden died November 3, 1975 at
Rosary Hospital in Corning. Interment was at Washington Cemetery, Gravity.
Georgia
Mae Ellen Ditto, oldest child of John
and Hattie [Richards] Ditto, was
born on June 17, 1889 at Gladstone, Illinois. There were three other children
in the family, two sisters and one brother.
She
was married on February 23, 1910 to Fred Borden. This union was blessed with two children, Pauline
Sheley of Guthrie Center, Iowa,
and Irene Gold of Council
Bluffs, Iowa. One grandson, Richard Gold, lived with her from the age of five to adulthood.
She
is survived by her two daughters; eight grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren;
two great great grandchildren, one sister, Zelda Kjendalen, formerly Mrs. Zelda Heaton, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and two
sisters-in-law, Nellie Borden of
Sharpsburg and Mrs. Hazel Ditto,
who lives in Canada.
Her
husband, Fred [Alfred Fernando],
died October 2, 1967; her brother, Roscoe, died November 4, 1965; one grandson, Fred Sheley, died January 20, 1975, in New Orleans,
Louisiana.
She
was a good and faithful member of the Presbyterian Church, a good mother, quiet
and gentle, who took pride in her family and her church and community. Flowers
were a source of joy to her, roses being a favorite. She was loved by all who
knew her, and her presence will be sadly missed.

OBITUARY—DITTO
Hattie
Ditto, daughter of Charlie
[Wesley] and [Mary] Jane [Beatty] Richards, was born in Henry County, Ia., Aug. 24, 1868, and died July 2, 1955
at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 8 days. She moved with her parents to
Taylor County at the age of 4 years.
She
was married Sept 12, 1888 to J [ohn] W Ditto who passed away February 1935.
To
this union 4 children were born, Mrs Georgia [Mae Ellen] Borden of Sharpsburg; R [oscoe] W Ditto of South Makwa, Sask., Canada; Mrs Vevia
Farnham and Mrs Zeldia [Zelda]
Kjendolen of Sioux Falls, S. D.
These children are left to mourn. Also 18 grandchildren, 25 great
grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and one brother, George Richards of Monmouth, Ore., many nieces and nephews and a
host of friends.
She
and her husband united with the Presbyterian Church at Sharpsburg, Ia., about
45 years ago. Later moving to Maryville, Mo., they transferred their membership
to the Christian church at Maryville. She had been a resident of Sharpsburg
since 1950. One brother and one sister preceded her in death. She was a kind
and loving mother and will be greatly missed. She is gone but not forgotten.
Services were held from
the Presbyterian Church in Sharpsburg July 5 at 2 p. m., Donald W Gibson,
minister, officiating. Burial at Gravity cemetery.

John Ditto Dies at Maryville
John
[W.] Ditto, formerly of this
county, died Saturday at Maryville, Missouri, of apoplexy. The burial will be
here but on account of the drifted condition of the roads it was postponed
until today.
Mr.
Ditto spent many years in Taylor
County and is well known throughout the county. Leaving the county he moved to
Maryville where he made his home until his death, which came suddenly Saturday.
The
roads to the cemetery will be cleared so that the body may be taken to the
cemetery here for burial today. The funeral will be held at Maryville at 1:30
this afternoon and when the body arrives here it is planned to use bobsleds to
go to the cemetery, as cars will not be able to get through.

John Ditto
John
W. Ditto, 69, died suddenly at
nine o'clock Saturday morning at his home in Maryville of a stroke of apoplexy.
He was apparently in the best of health and had done his usual chores before
breakfast.
Mr.
Ditto was born Nov. 24, 1866, the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jackson Ditto [Ellen Wright] at
Keithsburg, Ill. He was a member of the Christian church and the Royal
Neighbors Lodge at Gravity.
Surviving
are the widow, Mrs. Hattie [Richards] Ditto, three daughters, Mrs. Fred Borden [Georgia Mae Ellen] and Mrs. Earl Farnham both of Sharpsburg, and Mrs. Zelda Heaton of Bedford; one son, Roscoe W. Ditto of Loon Lake, Sask., Canada, seventeen
grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The
funeral services were held at the home last Thursday afternoon of last week,
conducted by the Rev. W. M. Wickizer. Burial was in the Gravity cemetery.

R. W. DITTO, 74 DIES IN CANADA
Funeral
services for R. [oscoe] W. [alter] (Pete) Ditto, 74, of Makwa, Sask., Canada, were held November
8 at Loon Lake United Church. Mr. Ditto died in a Makwa hospital November 4, 1965. Interment was at Loon
Lake Cemetery.
Mr.
Ditto was born in the United
States and went to Canada in 1918. He was a resident of the Makwa district
since 1933.
He
is survived by his wife, Hazel [May Grimm]; four daughters, Mrs. C. (Waunita) Scott, High River, Alla [Alberta], Mrs. Joe (Thelma)
Bauer of Glenbush, Sask., Mrs.
Eric (Micky) Ross of Paynton,
Sask., and Mrs. Pat (Marjorie) Villeneauve of Makwa, Sask.; seven sons, Orval of White Rock, B. C., Donal [d Dwain] of Vancouver, Howard and Kenneth of Saskatoon, Sask., Maynard and Roger of Makwa
and Virgil of Dawson Creek, B.
C.; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Among three sisters
in the United States is Georgia Borden of Sharpsburg, Ia.
