Mary Galey, 96, Columbia, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at a Columbia care center.

She was born May 28, 1908, in Oberlin, Kan., the daughter of Isaac and Bessie Lawrence Nauman.

When she was three years old, the family moved to Mound City where she attended grade school.

Her father died in 1914 at the age of 38. Her mother married Hiram Ream and they moved to Maitland. She graduated from Maitland High School in 1925.

She attended Tarkio College, then graduated from Chillicothe Business College in 1930. She worked as a medical secretary for DR. L.H. Fuson in St. Joseph for 15 years.

She married Leslie Galey in February, 1946, and they moved to Bedford, Iowa. They moved to Columbia in 1980 and he died Aug. 8, 1991.

She is survived by two half-sisters, Jean McClure of Columbia and Betty Brock of Ballwin.

A memorial service was held Friday at Parker Funeral Service, Columbia, and a graveside service was held at New Liberty Cemetery near Mound City on Saturday.

ELDON B. POOL
Services for Eldon B. Pool, 82, Bedford, were held at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home. Mr. Pool died March 20, 1990 at Bedford Manor, Bedford.
Eldon B. [liss] Pool, son of V.E. Nasby Pool and Emma Blunke [Blunck] Pool was born at Maloy, Iowa March 26, 1907. He grew to maturity in the Conway area where he attended the public school and the Methodist Church. He was graduated from Conway High School in 1924.  
He came to Bedford in 1929 where he was employed by the Burks Brothers Bakery.
On November 30, 1932 he was united in marriage to Opal Burch at Savannah, Mo. and they resided in Bedford, Iowa all of their married life. One daughter, Carole Ann, was born to bless their home and to share their love.
He engaged in the grocery business and meat cutter for the Levine Grocery, the Sid Morris Grocery, and Galey Grocery prior to being a partner in the Wholesale Grocery with William Cross from 1957 until he sold his interest in 1972.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Opal, who died October 25, 1984 and brothers, Leland and Hubert.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carole and her husband Richard Snow of Quartzside, Az.; two half-brothers, Wayne Duncan and his wife Beverly, and Loren Duncan; four grandchildren, Jerry Swigart and wife Penny; Joy Anderson and husband Darrell; Judy Webb and husband Brad and Gary Swigart, Jr.; great grandchildren are: Monica, Matt Briana Swigart; Crystal and Holly Carriker and Grant Webb; two sisters-in-law, Ada and Faye Pool; other relatives and friends.
Eldon served his country during World War II U.S. Navy as Seaman Class assigned to U.S. S. [?]phine a Troop Shop in the Southwest Pacific. He entered service April 26, 1944 and was discharged November 29, 1945.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church; V.F.W. and American Legion; Order of Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge.
He will be remembered as a kind and considerate father, grandfather, friend and neighbor and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
