Mary Galey, 96, Columbia, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at a Columbia care center.
She was born May 28, 1908, in Oberlin, Kan., the daughter of Isaac and Bessie Lawrence Nauman.
When she was three years old, the family moved to Mound City where she attended grade school.
Her father died in 1914 at the age of 38. Her mother married Hiram Ream and they moved to Maitland. She graduated from Maitland High School in 1925.
She attended Tarkio College, then graduated from Chillicothe Business College in 1930. She worked as a medical secretary for DR. L.H. Fuson in St. Joseph for 15 years.
She married Leslie Galey in February, 1946, and they moved to Bedford, Iowa. They moved to Columbia in 1980 and he died Aug. 8, 1991.
She is survived by two half-sisters, Jean McClure of Columbia and Betty Brock of Ballwin.
A memorial service was held Friday at Parker Funeral Service, Columbia, and a graveside service was held at New Liberty Cemetery near Mound City on Saturday.
