Lola Mae Young and John Trobridge Ames

Many Are Mated
(Lola Mae Young + John Trobridge Ames, no date given)

One of the many pretty weddings which have occurred in the vicinity of Traer this season was on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 8 p.m. at the beautiful home of Mr. And Mrs. J.H. Young, northwest of town, when their daughter, Lola M., was united in marriage to John T. Ames, in the presence of thirty-five relatives and friends. Among the former were four cousins of the bride from Wisconsin. The ceremony was performed by Rev. McKim, the ring service being used. The wedding march was played by Miss Grace Ames. Many valuable presents were given, amonth them several pieces of gold coin from Wisconsin relatives and a check for $200 from the bride’s father. After refreshments were served and the usual shower of rice and old shoes, Mr. and Mrs. Ames took the 11:45 train for California, where for a month or more they will visit relatives and enjoy the beauties of the sunny clime. Thus are most happily mated two of the most popular and worthy young people of Buckingham township. Both were born there and have always lived there. The young man is the son of Mrs. J.T. Ames, thus coming from one of the first families of north Tama. The bride is a charming young lady, coming also from one of the leading families of the community. Hundreds of friends extend the heartiest congratulations. The couple will live on the Ames home farm.

TRANSCRIBER NOTES: Date of Wedding: February 24, 1905. By this time, John T. Ames Sr had died, and JTA Jr was only offspring still living on the Ames farm.
