GLADYS MAE GRIFFIN WEDS JOHN A. SWITZER

Marriage Service on 55th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Griffin, Grandparents of the Bride

A pretty wedding was solemnized Tuesday on the fifty-fifth wedding anniversary of the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Griffin, of Traer, when Miss Gladys Mae Griffin, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Griffin, of 903 Washington Street, Waterloo, and John A. Switzer, son of Mrs. Daisy Switzer, of Harte, Manitoba, Canada, were united in marriage beneath an arch of pink roses and ferns in a ceremony performed at the home of the bride. The Rev. W.W. Bowers officiated.

Harry Wagner sang "Because" and "I Love You Truly." Miss Jvone Lowerie played the Lohengrin wedding march as the bridal party descended the stairs led by little Barbara Miller, of Muskegon, Mich., a cousin of the bride, as flower girl, dressed in pink silk crepe.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white Aqua silk chiffon with a train. Her head dress was of pearls and rhinestones. She carried a colonial modernistic bouquet of lilies of the valley, sweetheart roses, chain orchids and forget-me-nots with white maline tie. She wore a yellow gold Waltham wrist watch, a gift of the groom.

The bridesmaid, Miss Dorothy Griffin, sister of the bride, wore a dress of yellow silk embroidered net and carried a colonial modernistic bouquet of talisman roses, delphinium and pink sweet peas, with nile green French chiffon tie.

John T. Ames, Jr., of Springfield, Ill., a cousin of the bride, attended the groom as best man.

A three-course wedding dinner was served to forty guests. Tapers and a three-tier wedding cake carried the color scheme of pink and white.

The bride is a graduate of West Waterloo high school and has been employed in the millinery department of McLellan's store in Waterloo.

The groom is a graduate of Carbery, Manitoba, high school and the University of Manitoba.

Mr. and Mrs. Switzer left after dinner for a short wedding trip. The bride's traveling suit was of green mumuring pine with white accessories. They will be at home after July 15 at Flin Flon, Manitoba, Canada, where Mr. Switzer is employed in the engineering department of the Hudson Bay Mining & Smelting company.

Guests attending the wedding Tuesday from Traer included Mrs. H.B. Griffin, Mrs. Bessie Young, Miss Mary Young, Mrs. A. (Albert) Gravatt, Guy Gravatt, Roy Gravatt and family, John Ames and family, and Jay Wood and family. H.B. Griffin was unable to attend because of illness. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Griffin, of Odebolt, IA., and Miss Margaret McKerral, of Estherville, also were present.
