The informaton presented here is transcribed from that document. The effective date of the data is October 30, 1914. The directory contains 109 pages. It was published by The Ames Evening Times, compiled and edited by Fred M. Smith, "the county directory man." The data contains information organized by Post Office addresses, either town address delivery, post office mail, or delivery route. Listed are those people who are either the head(s) of household for each address or who had an occupation or profession.

One interesting aspect of this directory is that it includes households that fall outside of Story County whose mailing address was a Story County Post Office.

The names provided in the directory were transcribed for the surname search. Business names are not included in the transcription.
