BOEYINK, HAROLD AND GRACE (WANDSCHEER) Harold Boeyink was born January 12, 1906 to Gerrit Boeyink and Magdelene De Pree. Harold was a grandson of the pioneer first minister of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Rev. J. De Pree. Harold's father, Gerrit Boeyink, was the postmaster in Sioux Center 1904 and for four years, later he ran an elevator. The first five years of their marriage they lived in an apartment in Grace's parents home. After the death of Harold's mother, they moved to the Boeyink home to be with Harold's father. Harold and his cousin Louis Boeyink bought the Lane Kosters Grocery and Men's Clothing Store in 1935. After thirty years in the business Harold sold the store to Bob Schouten. He was semiretired for several years. Harold was active in several community organizations and served on the city council. Harold and Grace Boeyink were members of the Central Reformed Church and enjoyed being active in music groups. Harold served as a deacon and elder for a number of years. Their joy was to be of service to others in the church and the community. By Mrs. Grace Boeyink Source: Sioux Center Iowa 1991 Centennial Book--Family Contributor, Mary Haverhals |
