Class Reunion Brings Out Crowd -
Kirn Gives Talk Before 1922 Group
About fifty persons attended the class reunion banquet and meeting held by the Abraham Lincoln high school graduating class of 1922 at the Hotel Chieftain Friday night. Principal G. W. Kirn of the high school attended the dinner and gave a short informal talk before the group. Municipal Judge Allan Ardell was toastmaster. Everyone who attended the affair introduced themselves to the group and gave a few informal personal statements about themselves. Parts from forty letters sent to the group by members who could not attend were read at the meeting. Most expressed desire to attend and a majority blamed the tire and gasoline shortage as the reason for not making the trip. An electrical transcription, made by one of the members of the class, was played and it held greetings from Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt, Adolph Hitler (who knew he would lose the war because of the U.S. soldiers who were from the class of ’22), and Wendle Wilkie. Several members from out of town attended the reunion. Members of the class are in the armed forces in Ireland, Philippine Islands, and the Canal Zone. Memorial services were conducted in memory of members of the class who have died.
