Arbor Day Celebrations
1928-1942
The following are records of the Arbor Day celebrations in Plymouth # 4. Each year the date and the teacher’s name were written down. For some years, the weather was documented and in two years a “motto” was penned. Visitors to the celebration appear to have been young children who might attend country school the next year. The pupils’ names were written down by the teacher or by a single student on some Arbor Day Celebrations; and in the other years each student signed his or her own name. In 1932 there were 25 students, but in 1940 the numbers had dwindled to only six. These lists are housed in the Plymouth County Historical Museum. Plymouth #4 was located in section 14 south-east of Merrill.
