Meadow No. 7 -- PHOTOS |
1920 -1921 School YearThis first photo has been researched and determined it was taken in the early 1920's at Meadow No. 7 country school. Michael Treinen shares, "I can confirm that the attached photo was taken at Meadow No. 7, in the early 1920s, likely during the time my Mother, Wilma Raetz (Treinen) was also attending as a student. She lived on a farm a mile North of the school. Pictured are the twins Margaret Neir (Nelson) and Mildred Neir (Leavitt), along with their brother Harley Neir (1912-1994). They lived a quarter mile South of the school." "The identifications were done by Harley's daughter, Barbra Neir (Moats) who was a Marcus High School classmate. She is a retired school teacher living in Marcus, Iowa." The Neir Twins are in the back row of this group of Girl Pupils. 1920-1921 Meadow No. 7 Students "Play Ball" Above are more photos featured from my Mom, Wilma Raetz's (Treinen) Album. They are from the 1920-1921 school year. You can identify the two Neir girls and their brother from the earlier photo. The "big guy" is Francis "Joe" Marquis (1912-1967) who ended-up farming a mile North of the Treinen farm (Section 26, Meadow Township). ~ Contributed by Mike Treinen (Son of Wilma Raetz Treinen, who was Meadow No. 7 Teacher later during 1934-1937.)
