It is lighted by electricity, has water works, a fire department, good schools, churches of the leading religious denominations, an opera house. an armory, 3 banks, 3 weekly newspapers, flouring mills, a foundry, well auger factory, cream separator factory, lawn mower factory, rug factory, 3 coal mines, ice factory, planing mill, electric light plant. etc. A mile n. of the city is the State Asylum for the care of the insane. The city is lighted by electricity and gas, has an excellent water works, a well equipped and efficient fire department, sewerage system, good schools, a college (the Western Normal), 12 churches, a public library, an opera house, a $50,000 federal building, a large armory building, 3 banks and 2 semi-weekly newspapers, Sentinel-Post and the World.
