Moses Henry Shum was the youngest son of Peter and Elizabeth (Penor/Pinard) Shum, French Canadians who immigrated to Vermont then to Iowa. Mose was born December 1874 in Page County, Iowa. He died 29 December 1938 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He is buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Coin, Page County, Iowa.
Moses married Louella Jane Sullivan in Page County in 1894. They lived in Coin. Their children were Bessie (married Thomas E. Bundy), Vida (1885-1907), Allen, Calvin, Clifford, Harold and Lewis.
