Mrs.
America Fine Booze, 81, died
Tuesday night, July 11 at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Elta Booze, after a long illness. Her husband, Albiness [Albinus]
Booze and a son Curtis preceded her in death.
Besides
her daughter-in-law, Mrs, Elta Booze, who has so faithfully cared for her so many years, she leaves one
son Harvey [Walter] Booze;
also six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The
funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Shearer church and burial
was in the Shearer cemetery.

Mrs.
N. [athan] H. [arrison] Damewood,
86, died at College Springs Sunday July 16. She spent the greater part of her
life near Siam and has many friends here who share the sorrow of her aged
companion, who has traveled life's pathway with her for more than sixty-seven
years. She also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Maude Townsend and three sons, Herbert Damewood of Siam, Al Damewood of Clarinda
and Peter Damewood of College

her home at Carbon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2
o'clock at the Shearer Church. Interment was made in the Shearer cemetery. Mr.

lived in the Siam community and will be remembered by many friends.

Mrs.
John Damewood died at the home of
her son southwest of Corning Tuesday afternoon. Her death followed a long
illness covering a period of two and a half years. The body was brought to the
Hillard funeral home to await funeral arrangements, which have not been made at
this time. It is possible that the body may be taken to the former home south
of Clarinda for burial. An obituary will appear next week.

Arilda Ann Damewood
Arilda
Ann Damewood, daughter of Samuel
and Elizabeth [White] Anderson,
was born in Illinois, June 23, 1867, and passed away at the home of her son, Harrison, near Carbon, at the age of 63 years, 2 months
and 10 days. When but a young girl she came to Iowa and, with the exception of
the last ten years, which have been spent at Carbon, she lived in Page County.
On
April 3, 1884, she was united in marriage to John Henderson Damewood, who survives her and mourns the loss of a life
long companion. Three sons also survive, George, of Red Oak, Iowa; Sam, of Corning, and Harrison, of Carbon. Besides these there are 13
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and her aged father, the latter of
Canton, Illinois, and three brothers, Will Anderson of Bancroft, Nebr.; John Anderson of Urbana, Mo., and Sam Anderson of Pilger, Nebr. who survive her.
Mrs.
Damewood has been in failing
health for the last two years and at times it seemed that death was near at
hand, but she would rally again. Monday she weakened rapidly and passed away
Tuesday morning at 9:30. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for over twenty
years and a member of the Christian church at Siam.

Obituary
John
H. [enderson] Damewood died
Sunday night at 10:30 p. m. in the home of his son Sam Damewood, following a two months illness, which was due
largely to general decline and old age. The body was taken to the church at
Shearer cemetery near the old home near Siam where funeral services were held
at 2:30 Wednesday conducted by Rev. Volzke, pastor of the Corning Baptist
church. Burial was made in the Shearer cemetery.
John
H. [enderson] Damewood was born
September 27, 1851 in the state of Indiana and died December 6 in Corning, aged
85 years, 2 months and 9 days. When he was ten years old he came to Iowa with
his parents, locating at Siam. He was married to Arilda Anderson, April 3, 1884 and to this union three sons were
born, George of Shenandoah; Sam of Corning and Harrison who died last September. He is also survived by a
brother who lives at College Springs; and fifteen grandchildren. He was a
member of the I. O. O. F. lodge, having been identified with that organization
for the past thirty years.
Mrs.
Damewood died September 2, 1930
and since that time Mr. Damewood has made his home with his sons. Since the death of his son Harrison he has resided in the home of Sam Damewood here in Corning and his health has failed
rapidly.

N.
[athan] H. [arrison] Damewood, a
former resident of the Siam community, died Wednesday, March 3, at the home of
his son, Pete Damewood in
College Springs.
He
would have been 94 years old in May and is the last of his family. Funeral
services were held Friday at 10 o'clock at the Methodist church in College
Springs and burial was in Shearer cemetery.
Plumb
lodge No. 285 A. F. & A. M., of Siam had charge of the services at the
grave.
Surviving
are three sons, A. [braham] H. [erbert] Damewood of Siam, G. [eorge] A. [lverda] Damewood of Chicago and Pete [Peter Elbert] Damewood of College Springs; one daughter, Mrs. Maud

wife of Douglas Davison. She
was raised in this village and was well known by all in this vicinity. She

[DAVISON, BELLE MARGARET LASLEY] Mrs. Davison was born Sept. 11, 1877, at Braddyville, Ia., the daughter of the late Eugene and Lydia Hamm Lasley. She was married Oct. 22, 1895, to Robert H. Davison, who died. She later married his brother, Rob Davison, in 1921. Mrs. Davison lived most of her life in the rural area around Hopkins, coming to Hopkins with her parents when she was only a year old. She was a member of the Highland Christian Church, formerly near Hopkins. Her survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Homer Carmichael, Hopkins, and Mrs. Loyd Atha, Chillicothe; three sons, Harvey Davison, Prescott, Ia.; Harlan Davison, Hopkins, and Archie Davison, Bedford, Ia.; 26 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three brothers, Harlan Lasley, Hopkins; Roland Lasley, Red Oak, Ia., and Clarence Lasley, Clarinda, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Fine, Braddyville, Ia., and Mrs. Nevada Baker, St. Joseph; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Byron Moffett, Braddyville, and Mrs. Ira Chesnut, Clearmont, and five stepsons, Roy, Wilbur, Homer, Virgil and Rolla Davison, all of Braddyville. good many from Siam and vicinity attended the funeral of Chas. LeRoy Davison at the Shearer church last Wednesday at 1
o'clock. Chas. L. Davison was
born and raised until the time of his death on a farm near Hopkins, Mo. He was
19 years of age at the time of his death. He had been much with the Siam young
people of late and was a general favorite with all. His death was caused by
spinal meningitis. He leaves to mourn his loss a father, mother, two sisters
and three brothers besides a host of other relatives and friends who have the
sympathy of the entire neighborhood.

Resident Ill For Several Years
Earastus
[Erastus Ross] Davison, 66, died
Friday, Jan. 11, after having been in failing health for several years. The
funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Christian church, conducted
by Rev. B. F. Hall of Clarinda. Burial was at Memory cemetery.
He
was born in East River Township, Page County, Iowa, in 1868. The greater part
of his life had been spent in this vicinity, and for the past several years his
home had been in Memory.
He
was married in 1896 to Miss Nora Bland. He is survived by his wife, a sister, Mrs. Eva Smith of Omaha, and a brother, Jack Davison of Waldon, Colo.
He
was a member of the Church of Christ.

Fine, Doug Fine, Mrs. America Booze of Siam, and had resided here until about twelve years ago, when she left to
make her home with her daughter.

Mrs. Robert
Davidson Dead
The
funeral of Mrs. Robert Davidson [Davison], who lived southwest of Siam, was held at the Sherer [Shearer]
church Monday April 19. Interment was in the Sherer [Shearer] cemetery. Mrs.
Davidson [Davison] had been troubled with a small growth in her
breast and physicians decided that a simple operation would fully restore her,
and she was taken to Clarinda and an operation performed from which she did not
successfully rally, dying the following day. Mrs. Davidson [Davison] is survived by her husband and seven children.

Mrs. Rosena Davison
Mrs.
Rosena Davison died at the home
of her sister, Mrs. Floyd Harsh in Bedford, Saturday, April 25. The funeral services were held the following
Thursday, conducted by Rev. C. M. Eppard of Clarinda. Burial was in the Shearer
cemetery.

Helen Laub was born November 14,
1862, on a farm in Buchanan Township, Page County, Iowa. She was the second
child in the family of thirteen children born to Sarah Jane and Henry Laub.
In
January 1880, she was married to James Henry Carr. A short time after their marriage, she, with her
husband, united with the Church of Christ in Siam, and she remained a faithful,
devoted Christian wife and mother.
Six
children came to bless this home. They are Charley of Lodge Grass, Mont; Cora, deceased; Clarence of Braddyville; Claude, deceased; Clella Gibson of Buffalo, Wyo; Cuma Rosa of Princeton, Idaho. Mr. Carr died when he was only 37 years old.
On
July 8, 1904, she was married to John Davison at Garfield, Wash. To this union one son was
born, Doris, whose home is in
Elberton, Washington. Mr. Davison died
about 29 years ago.
Two
sisters, three brothers, and one great-granddaughter have preceded her in death.
Besides
the children Mrs. Davison is
survived by four sisters, three brothers, eight grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren.
All
five of her children were present for the last rites. Also I. N. Gibson of Buffalo, Wyo., and Mrs. D. A. Davison of Elberton, Washington.

Wilbur
Davison, 78, lifelong resident of
Page County, died Tuesday afternoon at Hand Community Hospital in Shenandoah following
a four month illness.
He
was born May 22, 1900, east of Braddyville, the son of Robert and [Mary] Anna
Laub Davison. On Feb. 7, 1923, he
married [Nell] Irene Clark, who survives. They farmed in the community where
he was raised and lived near his childhood home five and one-half miles east of
Braddyville.
Besides
his wife of the home, he is survived by three sons, W. Wayne and Leo E. Davison of rural Braddyville and Bennie C. Davison of rural Clarinda. There are eight grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren. Brothers are Homer, Roy and Virgil Davison, all of Braddyville and sisters Bertha Moffitt of Braddyville and Dicie Chestnut of Clearmont, Mo.
He
was preceded in death by a brother Rollie Davison.
Funeral
services were held this Thursday morning at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home with
Carl Cummings in charge. Joan Archer was soloist and Grace Perry organist.
Casket bearers were Danny, Scott, Dennis, Curtis and Steve Davison and Bill
Edwards. Mrs. Thelma Owend was at the register.
Burial
was in Shearer cemetery east of Braddyville.

Mrs.
Ella G. Eschen, 82, of Huron, S.
D. died Sunday morning at Municipal hospital following a lengthy illness.
She
is the mother of Mrs. Kenneth (Janelle) Farmer of Clarinda
and had been in Clarinda the past two years, being cared for by her daughter.
Besides
her daughter, she is survived by one grandson, Rodney Farmer of Des Moines, one brother, Anton Jansen of Alexandria, S.D. and a sister Mrs. Hattie
Eschen of Forestburg, S. D.
She
was preceded in death by her husband Elmer in 1951, one brother and five sisters.
The
family will meet friends at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home this Monday from 7-8:30
p.m.
Funeral
services will be held at Welter Funeral Home in Huron, S.D., on Thursday with
burial at Huron.

family of Mrs. Icyle (Harold) Franks have been notified of her death June 7 following a prolonged
illness.
Mrs.
Franks [Icyle Lillian], the
daughter of E. [ugene] J. [ohn] and Ina [Lillian Hare] Connell, lived in Clarinda until 1931 when she was
married to Harold Franks of
Mallard, Ia.
Their
home has been Lynwood, California the past 36 years. Their one son, Dennis, his wife and three children live in Torrance,
California.
Three
sisters live in Clarinda, Gertrude Heathertington, Bertha Lee, and Jean (Fred) Johnson.

Clyde Ingram died in Montana
Clyde
Ingram Jr., son of Clyde and
Vera Orme Ingram, died in
Browning, Mont, on June 12. He had been in poor health for several years and
suffered a final heart attack. He was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Taylor County, and
lived his early years in and around Clarinda.
He
is survived by three children, Mrs. Ronald (Janice) Lombard of Gig Harbor, Wash., David Ingram of Spokane, Wash, and Mrs. Stanley (Marla)
Seguim of Richland, Wash.; eight
grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Mildred) Welch of Lacey, Wash, and Mrs. John (Pauline) Couts of Portland, Ore.
Burial
was at the Browning Cemetery.

Mr. [Abner Gordon] Long died at his home Thursday and was
buried in the Oak Grove cemetery Saturday.

Abner Long died Wednesday. Jan. 24, 1917, at his home in Braddyville of pneumonia, age 73 years and 9 months. He was born in Green county, Wis., in 1843. When 4 years old he came with his parents to Iowa. He enlisted in the Union army when he was 17 years of age. He was married to Miss Melissa L. Burch, Oct 23, 1884. Seven children --three sons and four daughters---were born to Mr and Mrs Long. The eldest child died in infancy. He is survived by his wife and six children, the latter being Fred Long, Cheyene, Wyo; Walter E. Long, Braddyville, Ia; Mrs Ada Stockton, Buchel, Ida; Mrs Anna Conley, Martin, Tenn; Sabitha Long and Clarence Long, Braddyville. The funeral was held Saturday at the Methodist Episcopal church, conducted by Rev C.C. Moore of Allendale, Mo. Burial was in the Shearer cemetery. Gayland McCurdy died Friday
Funeral
services for Gayland McCurdy,
53, of Clarinda, were conducted at 10:00 a.m. this Monday at the Clarinda
Memorial Chapel. Rev. Jerold Irvin officiated. Burial was in the North Grove
Cemetery.
Casket
Bearers were Lloyd Carper, Carl Goldapp, Jack Krise, George Moore, John Pierce,
and Loren Pierce. Mrs. Delbert Smith was in charge of the music.
Mr.
McCurdy died Friday at the
Municipal Hospital. He was born Sept. 25, 1924, at Conway, Iowa, the son of Max
and Chloris Matheny McCurdy. He
graduated from Conway High School in 1942, and was united in marriage to Dorothy
Mathisen in Omaha on April 15,
1956. He had been employed at M.H.I. for the past 29 years as a vocational
rehabilitation specialist. He was an artist and a member of the Clarinda Fine
Arts Council, and was active in Troop 202 as a Boy Scout leader and pack leader
for Cub Scouts, for 10 years.
He
is survived by his wife Dorothy,
two sons, David and Steven, his mother Mrs. Chloris Sharp of Bedford, a brother Glen Sharp of Bedford, two sisters Rachel Fitzhugh of Waterloo and Mary Anne Irvin of Bedford.

E. [arl] Reed, 81, of Norfolk,
Neb. who passed away Sunday evening at a Norfolk hospital.
Reed, who was raised and attended school in Clarinda,
is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ethel Farrens and a niece, Mrs. Calvin Luther, both of Clarinda.
