Wagoner, Faith Eilers - Faith Eilers Wagoner, age 90, died Tuesday noon, January 5, 2010 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa. She was born to John and Lena (Gadke) Eilers on December 8, 1919.

Faith was baptized December 18, 1919 and confirmed April 9, 1933 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Yorktown, Iowa. She attended Yorktown schools graduating from Clarinda High School in 1938 and furthering her education at Clarinda Community College and Iowa State University. She taught country school and later worked at Citizens State Bank.

Leonard Wagoner and Faith Eilers met at a school picnic. They were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown on July 21, 1945. Their honeymoon and first few months of marriage were spent at San Antonio, Texas where Leonard was stationed in the Army. The farm northeast of Clarinda was their home for 40 years before retiring and moving into Clarinda in September of 1988.

Faith and Leonard became members of St. John Lutheran Church in 1948. She was a charter member of FFW (Friendly Farmers Wives), a neighborhood club. Recently she joined a card club and enjoyed the monthly Class of '38 meetings.

As a couple Faith and Leonard took three trips to Europe with Leonard's Army division visiting post-war sites. Faith enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. She loved to research the family tree and was a very good historian.

She is survived by her children: Diane Snodgrass, Darrell and Berneeta Wagoner, Carol and Curtis Davison, Keith and Jean Wagoner, Paul and Kathy Wagoner, all of Clarinda; grandchildren: Kevin Snodgrass, Bettendorf, Iowa, Kim and Mark Spratt of Liberty, Mo., Beth Wagoner, Brian Wagoner and fianc� Courtney Cochran, all of Lincoln, Neb., Chad and Renee Davison, Braddyville, Iowa, Craig and Katie Davison, Bedford, Iowa, Mandy and David Ford, Clarinda, Emily Wagoner Indianola, Iowa, Joshua Wagoner and Laura Wagoner and her fianc� Chris Bitcheno, Valparaiso, Ind., Jessica Wagoner, Holland, Mich., and Peter Wagoner, Ft. Worth, Texas; great-grandchildren: Abigail and Gabrielle Ford, Kalvin and Noah Spratt, and Bradley Davison; sisters Verna and Bernard Nothwehr and Vera and Don Steeve, all of Clarinda, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Mahree Eilers, Clarinda, Iowa.

Faith was preceded in death by parents, husband Leonard in 2003, daughter Patricia, son-in-law Kenneth Snodgrass, and brothers Maurice and Earl Eilers.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 8, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Daryl Tompkins and Rev. Jerome Wagoner officiating. Interment was at Clarinda Cemetery. Wageman, Kathleen Josephine - Kathleen Josephine Wageman, daughter of Veryl Knox and Katherine Wageman, was born on March 19, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska. Her mother died during child birth and Kathleen was raised by her grandmother, Barbara. Katherine graduated from St. Boniface Catholic Schools with the class of 1962.

After high school, Kathleen began working at Little Flower Haven in Earling, Iowa, as a nurses aide. She later moved to the Page County Home where she lived for several years before becoming a resident at the Clarinda Mental Hospital.

Kathleen enjoyed spending time talking and drinking iced tea with her friends and was always busy going somewhere or doing something. She never sat in one place for very long. She also went to sleep every night with her rosary in her hand.

Kathleen died on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Terrace View in Clarinda, Iowa, having attained the age of sixty-six years, eight months, and sixteen days.

She is preceded in death by her mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her aunts and uncles; cousins; other family members and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, Iowa, with Rev. John Dorton officiating the 1:00 p.m. service. Inurnment was held at St. Boniface Cemetery in Westphalia.

Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of the arrangements.

 

Wagoner, Shirley Ann Rector - Shirley Ann Wagoner was born February 2, 1943, at Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Beatrice (Siedenburg) Rector. She grew up there and graduated from Clarinda High School with the class of 1961.

On August 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Lowell Wagoner at St. John's Lutheran Church in Clarinda. The couple first made their home in Clarinda and due to Lowell's job with UBC, later lived in Audubon, Oakland, and Tipton, Iowa. The family moved to Mapleton in 1970.

While in Tipton, Shirley worked as a typist in an abstract office. After moving to Mapleton, she worked as a day care provider and then started at Reed's Furniture. She and a small staff of talented ladies later started the drapery department of Carpet Specialists.

She later worked at the Mapleton Press, primarily managing the production of embroidered apparel items. At the same time she was employed at Casey's General Store in Mapleton, working in food service and keeping the books. She was still working there at the time of her death, an employment that spanned over 20 years.

She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women. She enjoyed playing cards with her family, bingo, and participating weekly with the Mapleton ladies in the "Casino Club". Her favorite pleasure, however, was found in attending her grandchildren's activities.

Shirley served others as a tissue donor with the Iowa Donor Network.

Loving survivors left to cherish their memories of Shirley include Lowell, her husband of 48 years; a son, Cary Wagoner and his wife, Judy, of Holstein, Iowa and their family, Kayla Wingert and her husband, Todd, (who are currently expecting the birth of Shirley and Lowell's first great-grandchild), Allie, Brandi, and Harlee Wagoner; a daughter, Stacey Brandt and her husband, Jeff of Sumner, Iowa, and their family, Mackynzi and Quyntin "Q" Brandt; a daughter, Kelly Freed and her husband, Dan of Sioux City, Iowa, and their family, Adam, Nathan, and Britni; her mother, Beatrice Rector of Clarinda, Iowa; a sister Lola Ehen and her husband, Charlie of Atlantic, Iowa, a brother, Ed Rector and his wife, Dee of Devils Lake, North Dakota, a sister, Sandra Graham and her special friend, Jimmy of Bedford, Iowa, and a brother, Allen Rector and his wife, Karen of New Market, Iowa; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; her father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Allene Wagoner; and her maternal grandparents, whom with she shared a great deal of her youth, Charlie and Laura Siedenburg.

A memorial service was held Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa, with Rev. Dr. Scott Fiege officiating. Message in Music by Julie Hamann, Organist; Congregational Singing of Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art.

Visitation was held Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

 

Walter, Marilyn Dorene Parrott - Marilyn Dorene Walter was born to LeRoy Clark Parrott and Doris Marie (Schollian) Parrott on September 15, 1946, and entered into rest at her home, with her family at her side on April 18, 2009. Marilyn graduated from Clarinda High School with the Class of 1964. She was united in marriage to Martin (Marty) Delph Walter on September 20, 1964. They became proud parents to a son, Shannon Ermal Walter, December 31, 1966.

Marilyn was employed by Lisle Corp. for eighteen years and made many friends. Marilyn loved camping, vacationing, and Sunday dinners with her family. She had many nieces and nephews and loved them all. She was known as "Nana" by many.

She was preceded in death by her father, LeRoy; uncles Bert and Pete Parrott; her baby sister, Goldie Parrott; in-laws Jessie and Martin Walter; a brother-in-law, Raymond Mick; a niece Dara Dalene, and grandparents.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Marty of Clarinda, Iowa; her son Shannon Walter and wife Vicci of Maryville, Mo.; mother Doris Parrott of Clarinda; sisters, Marion Mick of Skidmore, Mo., Joann Crawley of Clarinda; Jeannie Ritchie of Bedford; brother Ermal Parrott and friend Penny Sheley of Clarinda, Jon Parrott of Clarinda, and Kelly Parrott and wife Sharon of New Market, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held at 10:30 Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Clarinda Cemetery with Rev. Eric Schaiffer officiating. Memorials are suggested to the New Market Community Building Fund. Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel provided arrangements.
 

Warden, Merilyn Jean Varley - Merilyn Jean Warden passed away Friday, April 17, 2009 at Branson, Mo. Jean Warden was born June 18, 1922 in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Harry and Birdie Lee Varley.

Jean was married in Atlantic, Saturday, November 23, 1940 to Robert Warden and lived several places in Southwest Iowa before settling in Yorktown to raise their family. They have been residents of Yorktown for many years.
Preceding Jean in death were her husband, Robert, and son Gary Warden.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Lyle Warden, Georgetown, Tex., and daughters, Janice (Warden) Huckaby and husband John from Chardon, Ohio, and Marilyn (Warden) Fewson and Bob from Clarinda, Iowa.

Grandchildren include Kyle Warden of Omaha; Jodi Warden Boatman of Georgetown, Tex., and husband, Tony; Mark Warden of Dallas, Tex.; Bobbi Huckaby Videto and husband Judd from Jerome, Mich.; Darin Huckaby and wife Tonya from Indiana; Jamie Todd and wife Stephanie, Glenwood, Iowa; Ryan Fewson, Clarinda, Iowa; Andy Fewson and wife Haley, and several great-grandchildren.
Robert and Jean were members of the Methodist Church in Yorktown and Norwich, Iowa.

Jean worked several jobs in Shenandoah, Iowa, including the seed company, veterinarians office, and in Clarinda at Lisle Corp., Hawley Drug Store, and at the pharmacy at Clarinda Treatment Center before retiring.

Graveside services, open to the public, will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Summitt Cemetery with Rev. Phil Jorgensen, clergyman, officiating.
Coffee and cake will be served at the Yorktown Hall immediately following the graveside service. Memorials may be given to Clarinda Lied Center or to the Clarinda Foundation.

 

Wagoner, Cecil Allen - Cecil Allen Wagoner, of Omaha, Neb., was born November 29, 1955, in Clarinda, Iowa, and died April 21, 2009, in Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clemon Wagoner, and a nephew, Mark Janssen. He is survived by wife, Peggy Wagoner; daughter, Michelle Lynn Wagoner; mother, Darlene Herzburg Wagoner; brother, Ken Wagoner and wife Vicki; sisters and spouses: Karen and George Janssen, Denise and Lannie Whitehouse, Teresa and Ron Pratt, Alicia and Bob Davis; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Vigil service was held Thursday, 7:00 p.m., St. Pius X Catholic Church, 69th & Blondo, Omaha. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Memorials to St. Pius X Catholic Church, St. Pius X/St. Leo Grade School. Visitation was Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Way, Jean Carolyn Miller - Jean Carolyn Miller was born at Battle Creek, Iowa on May 26, 1936, the daughter of Julius Hans and Rosa Margaret Greenwald Miller. She grew up in the Battle Creek area where she attended school and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1954. She attended business college for one year and then worked for an insurance company in Omaha, Nebraska. On October 3, 1959, she was married to Dean LeRoy Way at Battle Creek.

They lived in Kennard, Nebraska where they operated a dairy farm. In 1964 they moved to Villisca where she was a mother and home maker. She liked playing bingo, cards, reading, "Scratch-offs" and going to the casino. She also enjoyed visiting friends and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her four children: Sheila and husband Jerry Bachman of Marshalltown, Iowa; Byron and wife Karen Way of Oakland, Iowa; Lori and husband Lee Peek of Lacygne, Kansas; and Brenda and husband Pat Doll of Hawk Point, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 5 great- grandchildren; two brothers: Gerald and wife Doris Miller of Battle Creek, Iowa, and Larry and wife Esther Miller of Woodstock, Virginia; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dean L. Way, and one sister Diana Miller.

Graveside services for Jean C. Way, 72, formerly of Villisca, were held Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Villisca Cemetery in Villisca, Iowa, with Pastor Jerry Wagoner officiating. Memorials to be established. Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca in charge of arrangements.

 

Welch, William Harold - Bill Welch died on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at his home in Scottsdale, Ariz., after courageously battling idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis for seven years. A Celebration of Life for Bill is being planned for Memorial Day weekend in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Bill was born in Shenandoah on June 4, 1926, to Alice Buntz and Harold Steele Welch. Bill graduated salutatorian from Shenandoah High School in 1944 where he lettered in football and basketball until his senior year when he broke his back. He enjoyed acting and had a lead role in his sophomore class play “The Early Worm” and his senior class play “June Made”. His back kept him from sharing in the extraordinary sacrifices many of his friends and classmates made during WWII and the Korean War.
Bill graduated from Northwestern University in 1948 and Northwestern Law School in 1951. While living in Chicago, he loved to watch the Cubs play from the bleachers at Wrigley Field, playing bridge at Phi Delta Theta and playing basketball at the YMCA. After passing the Illinois and Iowa bar exams, he took a job with Peat Marwick in Des Moines until he qualified to sit for the national CPA exam.
Bill married Margaret Joy Taylor of Clarinda on May 17, 1953. Six months later, he sat for the first time for the CPA exam and achieved the fifth highest score of the 12, 098 candidates who took the November, 1953 test. Bill then took what would prove to be the favorite job of his career, a six year stint as a trail lawyer with the Internal Revenue Service in Denver. In 1960, he left government service and began a 30-year career as an international tax attorney with a number of large corporations including Texaco, Standard Brands and Bendix/Honeywell. Bill’s work required him to pass additional bar exams in Colorado, California, New York and New Jersey. Along the way, he was named to the 1964 United States Volleyball Association’s Senior All-American 1st-team and he received an M.B.A. from the University of Denver.
Bill and Margie retired to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1992 where Bill turned his energy to a number of local civic activities. Bill was also an avid reader and red the Arizona Republic, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal every morning and The Valley News twice a week. Bill and Margie also enjoyed the five-day-a-week exercise regime that they had been following religiously for 15 years until 2001 when they both had heart bypass surgery. A year later, Bill developed IPF and his long battle with the disease began. In addition to Margaret, Bill is survived by his daughter Kendall Daines of Kensington, Md., (husband Scott and children Danielle and Gregory), his son Jonathan Welch of Scottsdale, Ariz., (children Alexandra and Laurence and their mother Momoko), his sister Annabelle Hudmon of Jacksonville, Fla., (husband Stanton and children Allison Sheridan, Stanton and Scott) and his nephews Steve Schneider of Belvedere, Calif., and Dick Schneider of Williamsburg, Va.

Whigham, David - David Whigham, age 59 of Tabor, died Saturday, October 10, 2009 at his home unexpectedly. David was born December 18, 1949 in Shenandoah, to Clarence M. Whigham and Bessie M. (Hall-Little) Whigham. He was a 1968 graduate of South Page High School in College Springs, IA and received an Associates Degree from Iowa Western Community College in 1970.

David served in the U.S. Army and worked for many years for the City of Omaha as a mechanic and later as a foreman. He was a friend of the Tabor First Congregational United Church of Christ, a member of the Rommel-Conklin VFW Post #7064 of Tabor and a past Post Commander.

David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Martha Frazen; and two brothers, Howard and Dean Whigham.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Thompson and husband Paul of Maryville, MO; son, Travis Whigham of Maryville; six sisters, Jean Clark and husband Dale of Hewitt, TX, Dolores Shull and husband Robert of Riverton, IA, Carolyn Carpenter of Newton, IA, Phyllis VanFosson and husband Garth of Braddyville, IA, Judi Finke Schreiner and husband Robert of Nebraska City, NE, and Linda Burgett and husband Larry of Newton; sister-in-law, Elaine of Colorado Springs, CO; former wife Deborah Forney Shepherd of Thurman, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Tabor, IA with Rev. Tom Clark and Mr. Gary Moles officiating. Visitations were with the family from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Tabor. A memorial fund has been established and interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at College Springs, IA with military rites by the Rommel-Conklin VFW Post #7064 of Tabor. Wiese, Lester H. - Lester H. Wiese, 63, of Holstein, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 10 at Mercy Medical Center of Des Moines of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, July 5.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 14 at the United Methodist Church in Holstein, followed by internment at the Holstein Cemetery. Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Les was born on September 23, 1945 to Roger and Edna Fern (Endrulat) Wiese in Holstein, Iowa. He graduated from Holstein High School in 1963 and from Wayne State College in 1967.

On Sept. 1, 1967, Les was united in marriage to Nancy Jean Larson. Since that time, Les was a high school science teacher at Pierce, Nebraska, before moving to Holstein where he farmed with his brother and father, raised cattle, and drove a Peterbilt truck coast to coast.

He was well known for his purebred Charolais cattle herd and was active in his church, Cornerstone of Sioux City, Iowa. He loved to hunt, ride motorcycles, and play cards, but he cherished being "Pa Wiese" to his six grandchildren most.

He is proceeded in death by his father and a nephew, Travis Wiese.

Those left to celebrate his memory are his wife of 42 years, Nancy; his children, Wendi Johnson and husband Layne of Tulsa, Okla., and CDR Lance Wiese and wife Tracy of the U.S. Navy; grandchildren, Jake and Luke Johnson, and Madeline, Dalton, Sarah, and Elizabeth Wiese. He is also survived by his mother, Edna Fern Wiese of Holstein, Iowa; brothers, Val Wiese and wife Joan of Holstein, Iowa, Merritt Wiese and wife Beth of Elkhorn, Neb., and sisters, Rozann Seela and husband Dave of New Market, Iowa, and Mary Ellen Sunderman and husband Jay, also of New Market, Iowa, and mother- and father-in-law, Norman and Rosemary Larson of Kennard, Neb.

He was also cherished and will be truly missed by many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

 

Williams, Donald Lee - Donald Lee Williams was born on July 14, 1936 to Leslie Murray "Bus" Williams and Ina Fern Larison Williams in Ross Township, Taylor County, Iowa. He spent his life as a resident of Taylor, Adams and Page Counties. Don accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior on December 29, 1943 and was later baptized in the Baptist church. He attended many country schools in Adams and Taylor counties and graduated from Bedford High School in 1954. He went to business school in Omaha, graduating with a certificate in accounting.

On July 31, 1959, Don married Brenda Joyce Miller, who survives him of the home. To this loving union was born Brenda Joan Williams. Don and Brenda lived in or near Clarinda all their married lives. Don was inducted into the United States Army in 1959 and was in the army for a short time.

Don had a varied work history, from starting as an accountant in small businesses around Clarinda, to school bus driving, and various production roles at NSK until retirement in 1999. After retirement, Don and Brenda worked and played together on projects around their acreage, played with grandkids, played with the computer(s) and got the most out of retirement years. On July 31 of this year, Don and Brenda would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Don enjoyed his toy tractor collection, which he started in childhood. He has many tractors and other toy implements that he got as a boy; he has added many to his collection through the years. Then he has his rebuilt John Deere B tractor that he restored several years ago and used in projects around the acreage.

Don always took great care of his cars ? particularly the 1957 Ford that he bought new in 1957. Don rarely missed the Bedford and New Market 4th of July parades, where he drove the Ford ? with "Do not Touch" signs attached.
Don was preceded in death by both parents, Bus and Fern Williams; parents-in-law, Irvin and Wyleen Miller; and one brother-in-law, John Thornton.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; daughter Brenda Joan Williams and husband Oscar Velazquez, and grandchildren Oscar Jr., Ligia, Cara, Alex, and Jacob Velazquez, St Joseph, Mo.; sister Beverly Kemery and husband Charles, Bedford, Iowa; brother-in-law Jim Miller and wife Connie, Truro, Iowa; five nephews, two nieces, and many cousins and friends. Don will be missed by his family and friends.

Memorial services for Donald Lee Williams age 72 of Clarinda formerly from Bedford, Iowa were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Clarinda, with Interment in Memory Cemetery, New Market, Iowa. Memorials at are to the Calvary Baptist Church in Clarinda.

Wills, Orville Marvin - Funeral services for Orville Wills, age 92, of Escondido, California, formerly of College Springs, Iowa, who died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Palomar Hospital, Escondido, California will be held Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa.

Burial with military rites will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, College Springs, Iowa with lunch and fellowship to follow at the College Springs Presbyterian Church. Orville Marvin Wills was born February 13, 1917 near Villisca Iowa, the son of Oscar Raymond Wills and Alma (Gray) Wills. He was a graduate of Villisca High School. Orville was veteran of the United States Army Air Force serving during World War II. He was united in marriage to Virginia Neese on October 8, 1935. This union was blessed with one daughter, Carol. Virginia preceded Orville in death February 17, 1988 and he later married Myrtle (Neese) White, March 4, 1989.

Orville was a mechanic in College Springs, Iowa and in 1955, he moved to California where he was a carpenter by trade, working until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of two square dance groups, the Promenades of Valley Center, California and the Whirl A Ways of Escondido, California. The love of his life was his family, grandchildren and his six Chinese Crested Hairless and Powder Puff dogs.

Orville is survived by his daughter, Carol Riffle and husband Bob of Escondido, California; grandchildren, Tony Udell of Escondido, California, Christopher Udell of Murrieta, California, Tim Udell of Temecula, California; great-grandchildren, Nichole, Jamie, Jacob, Christiana, Isela, Christian, Leticia, Caleb, and Ethan; sister, Pauline Newberry of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Preceding Orville in death were his parents; wives, Virginia and Myrtle; brothers, Bob Wills, Kenneth Wills, Darwin Wills, Arnold Wills; sisters, JoAnn Lundgren and Marie Lundgren.
Although Orville will be greatly missed, His love and inspiration will live on through his family. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn his passing.

 

Wright, Marjorie May Hughes - Marjorie May Wright was born May 10, l922, in Ord, Nebraska, to Paul and Eva May (Shephard) Hughes. She lived there until age 15 when the family moved to Clarinda.
She graduated from Clarinda High School in 1939. During the years after high school, Marjorie taught in country schools.

On October 15, 1942, she was married to Verl Boyd Wright in Maryville, Missouri. She and Verl worked in a Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings, Nebraska, during the war. They moved back to New Market and in 1945 bought the family farm where they lived until Verl's death in 1993.

Marjorie decided to move to Clarinda a short time later and picked a nice house on the boulevard to make her home for the next 11 years.

When her health began to fail, she moved to Hillsboro, Oregon, to live with her daughter Susan.

Marjorie and Verl were blessed with three children, Keith, Bob, and Susan. They were a busy farm family that raised livestock, grain and chickens. She always had a large garden and her favorite roses.

The family was very involved in 4-H where Marjorie was a leader for many years. As the seven grandchildren came along, she enjoyed the role of Grandma, always having snacks on hand and glad for their visits.

She was an excellent cook and made the best fried chicken and mashed potatoes around. Marjorie was a talented lady and everything she did, she did well. She was a beautiful seamstress; crocheted many cozy
afghans and made candles.

She was meticulous in her search for genealogy information and compiled several branches of family history. Her greatest love was her china painting. Her pieces are enjoyed by all who are privileged to have them today.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Clarinda. She passed away on July 18, 2009, in Beaverton, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verl; sister, Doris Knowles;
and her parents.

She is survived by her children, Keith and Patty Wright, Robert and Jane Wright and Susan and Kevin Mellott, her sister, Evelyn McKay, brother, Roy Hughes, seven grandchildren and twelve
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Public visitation was held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, in Clarinda, Iowa. Private Interment was held at the Old Memory Cemetery, New Market, Iowa.
