Raines, Anna J. - Anna J. Raines, age 74, passed away May 24, 2012 at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa

Rarick, Maurice Samuel - Maurice Samuel Rarick, 86, of Clarinda, passed away at Clarinda Regional Health Center on Sunday, June 24, 2012.
He was born April 4, 1926 in Wolcottville, Indiana, the son of Dr. John Rarick and Wilma (McDonald) Rarick. He graduated from Howe Military Academy in 1944 and then served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
He graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, in 1951 with degrees in botany and bacteriology and began his career as a micro-bacteriologist for the Kingan & Company of Indianapolis. Maurice and his family moved to Clarinda in 1968, where he was plant manager for the Hygrade Company. He later worked in the countries of Haiti and Romania, as well as in Humboldt, Sioux City and Des Moines, Iowa, consulting for various meat and food companies.
Maurice was a member of American Legion Post 98, the Glenn Miller Post (9230) of the VFW, the Masonic Lodge and the First United Methodist Church of Clarinda. He taught hunter safety courses for many years in Clarinda, was an avid Ham Radio operator (KBONWA) and also enjoyed fixing antique clocks. Most recently he worked at Napa Auto Parts, delivering parts and chatting with customers.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Roberta; and four sons: Steve (Diane) of Grayslake, Ill.; David (Melissa) of Ankeny; Brian (Beth) of Clarinda; and Jeff (Julie) of Marshalltown; nine grandchildren: Jonathan, Nathan, Katharine, Taylor, Jaci, Sydney, Sam and Brandon (Abby) Rarick, Brandi (Randy) Kutzner and one great-grandchild, Gracie Kutzner. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rosalyn, and infant brother Carlos.
Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Clarinda with Rev. Andrew Rubenking officiating. Visitation with the family was held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda. Private burial was in the Clarinda Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Sergy Post 98. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or to the Clarinda Foundation. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda.
Maury will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His memory will live on in their hearts. May God grant comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing

Richardson, Dorothy Elaine Johnson - Dorothy Elaine Richardson was born on Feb. 7, 1930 in rural Essex, Iowa, the daughter Elmer Alexander Johnson and Edna Olive (Anderson) Johnson. She passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Tuesday evening, March 6 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 82 years and 28 days.
Dorothy grew up in rural Essex where she attended country school. She attended high school in Shenandoah, Iowa and graduated as Valedictorian with the Class of 1948. During her high school years, she worked at Mae Farmers. After high school, she worked at the Iowa Power and Light Company. On February 27, 1949 she was united in marriage to Robert Eugene Richardson at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shenandoah. Dorothy and Bob were blessed to have four sons, Robert Michael, Charles Patrick, John Steven, and James David.
In January 1953, Dorothy and Bob, along with Dorothy's parents, Elmer and Edna Johnson, opened J & R Furniture and Carpet in Shenandoah. They enjoyed serving the people of Southwest Iowa, Northwest Missouri, and Southeast Nebraska for almost 60 years. Dorothy owned and operated their furniture store until her passing.
Dorothy was devoted to her faith, to her family, and to her community. Her quiet wisdom and mentoring was a source of strength for all. Her interests revolved around her family and their activities such as motorsports and farming. Her greatest joys are her grandchildren and her great grandchild. She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she served on Altar Guild, various committees, and as a Sunday morning greeter.
Dorothy was a wonderful cook and delighted family and friends with her culinary expertise. In recent years, she enjoyed her sunroom addition and newly remodeled kitchen where she created many dishes including favorites of pastries, pies, pizza, prime rib, cookies, and Swedish pancakes. She was also proud of her Swedish Lutheran heritage.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Edna Johnson, two sisters, Marvis Cool and Rogene Johnson, and her husband, Robert Eugene Richardson.
Survivors include her children, Mike Richardson and wife Jolene of Franklin, Tennessee, Charlie Richardson of Shenandoah, Steve Richardson of Shenandoah and Lori Balke of Beatrice, Nebraska, Jim Richardson and wife Niki of Shenandoah; four grandchildren, Charles Richardson and wife Heather of Bellevue, Nebraska, Patrick Richardson of Shenandoah, Nicki and Michele Richardson of New York City, NY, and one great grandson, Lucas Richardson of Bellevue, Nebraska; along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 10 2012 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Steve Hetzel officiating. Attending to the memorial register were Marcella Heaton and Mary Alice Johnson. Caring for flowers were Kathy Athen, Donna Bopp, Linda Whitehill and Loraine Manchester. Ushers included Howard Johnson, Newt Heaton, Russ Burroughs and Merrill Whitehill. Music was provided by Mary Eickoff, Lacey Reed and Carla Kage who sang "There's Just Something About That Name" and "The Lord's Prayer". The congregation joined in singing "Because He Lives" and "He Touched Me", Judy Lundgren served as organist. Casket Bearers included Steve Richardson, Jim Richardson, Mike Richardson, Charlie Richardson, Charles Richardson and Patrick Richardson. Honorary Casket Bearers included Pat Athen, Eldon Manchester, Brian Martin, Mike Flynn, Richard Stewart, John Stewart, Richard Rope and Jimmy Bopp. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangement

Roberts, Hope Patricia, 3 months old, passed away early Friday morning, January 13, 2012 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Hope is the daughter of April Roberts and Jacob Hambright.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Hope’s original name was to be Aubri Patricia, but the moment April saw her, she felt the Lord say her name is Hope.

She weighed little over 2 lbs but in that little body survived a strong spirit to survive and fight for life.

We all felt a part of Hope in our hearts as we prayed for her and April on a daily basis and she grew in our hearts in a way that only God can inspire.

Our little Hope passed into the Lord’s arms at 4:29 a.m. on January 13th, 2012.

Hope Patricia will always hold a very special place in our hearts as we look forward to the day we will all see her dancing on streets of gold in the presence of our Lord.

She brought so much love to all that were touched by her life, she will be missed here, but we are comforted in knowing she is with Jesus now. An angel from the moment God allowed her to enter this life

Robinson, Bernard Dean "Gee" - Memorial services for Bernard "Gee" Robinson age 69, of Clarinda, Iowa, who entered into peace Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Bergan Mercy Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend Andrew Rubenking and Pastor Gordon Scott officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.

Bernard Dean "Gee" Robinson was born in Malvern, Iowa to Roy Robinson and Mae (Williams) Robinson on April 28, 1943. He grew up in Malvern and graduated from Malvern Community High School in 1961. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska and he received his Masters degree from Chadron State College, Chadron, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Liz Cunningham on December 28, 1967 at North Platte, Nebraska. They were blessed with two sons, Brad and Ward.

Gee taught social studies in Malvern and Clarinda and coached football, basketball, track, baseball, and softball until he retired in 2001. He loved working with the kids whether in the classroom or on the athletic field/court.

Gee was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Clarinda, Iowa. He loved to go fishing as often as he could. He refereed volleyball for many years. Gee did ASVAB testing for the government at eastern Nebraska and Southwest Iowa schools for seven years. In his retirement he loved to get together with friends to talk over the latest game or just to tell stories or jokes. You could always tell Gee was in the room when you heard his infectious laughter.

Gee was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jack and Kenneth Robinson.

Rohrer, Byron Eugene - Byron Eugene Rohrer, age 46 born Sep 4, 1966, passed away November 6, 2012 at his home.

Rolf, Jeanne A. Howland - Jeanne A. Rolf, daughter of Bazil Harold Howland and Mabel Josephine Johnson was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1928 at the home of her grandparents in Shenandoah, Iowa. She passed away early Sunday morning, January 15, 2012 at Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 1 day.

Jeanne grew up in Shenandoah and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1946. She grew up during the last of the Great Depression when life was very tough. She loved school and particularly reading, so much that she would walk through the snow drifts taller than her just to get to school. Jeanne went to work at the public library in Shenandoah after her children were in high school. She worked her way up to assistant librarian during her 15 years there. She retired from the library in 1983. Jeanne was also instrumental in getting the Page County History Book published.

Jeanne had a love for all animals, but in particular cats. She had many house cats throughout her married life with Walter. Stray cats were not strays anymore when they stopped by her house. She was the first woman to be president of the church council at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of rural Northboro. She became Lutheran when she married Walter on June 18, 1950 at St. Paul’s, and that became her church. Her faith and her unwavering diligence to not miss going to church laid the foundation for her children and grandchildren.

Her grandchildren Ty and Toni were absolutely the joy of her life. She was so proud of them and all they have accomplished, whether it was sports or academics. She and Walter tried not to miss any of their Jr. High, High School or College games. Walter and Jeanne took many vacations throughout their married life, but the most enjoyable were the ones that included taking their grandkids.

She was proud of her children Deborah and Chris for what they had done with their lives. Chris and his motorcycles and his unbelievable mechanical knowledge for working on them and any other vehicle, and Deb for her years of teaching Sunday School and being so close by to help her and Walter. She cared so much for her son-in-law Terry, for all his talent in making beautiful furniture. She would get so mad if a referee or another coach would yell at Terry in a game he was coaching. She was also thankful for her new granddaughter, Kerra (Ty’s wife) and soon to be new grandson, Dustin (Toni’s fiancé). They helped complete her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jim Howland. Rolf, Richard Henry "Dick" - Richard Henry “Dick” Rolf was born July 23, 1918 near Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Henry F. and Carrie (Bredensteiner) Rolf. He passed away on Thursday morning, May 10, 2012 at the Shenandoah Medical Center at the age of 93 years, 9 months and 17 days.

Richard grew up in rural Page County and graduated from Northboro High School in 1936. He loved being outdoors and working on his farm. He farmed in the Northboro area his entire life. On August 30, 1975, he was united in marriage to Lois Adelung. Richard was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sidney, Iowa for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lois; and a brother, Kenneth Rolf.

Rowe, Betty Marie Mort - Betty Marie (Mort) Rowe was born on May 29, 1934 in Pawnee City, Nebraska, the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Kohn) Mort. Betty entered into eternal peace on Thursday morning, August 9, 2012 at the Nebraska Medical Center.

Betty graduated from Pawnee City High School with the Class of 1950. Following graduation she attended Peru Community College where she received her teaching certificate and taught Country School. Betty then moved to Shenandoah where she began work as a secretary at Shenandoah Lumbar Company.

On November 12, 1954 she was united in marriage to Cecil Rowe. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of two children: Judy and Dale. Cecil and Betty enjoyed 44 years of marriage before Cecil's passing in February of 1999.

Cecil and Betty owned and operated Cecil's Conoco until 1996, when they donated the property of the service station to the City of Shenandoah where you will currently find the Shenandoah Fire Station. Cecil and Betty enjoyed traveling and Branson, Missouri was one of their favorite stops! Betty most certainly enjoyed going to the fabulous shows and spending a few days shopping. She also enjoyed spending time with her loving companion Snowball. As everyone who knew Betty, knew that the joy of her life was her family and most of all her grandson Dustin, along with his friend Delannie. She adored them both! Betty attended many sports activities of Dustin's as her health would permit.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shenandoah where she enjoyed attending their E after 60 gatherings monthly. Before her health started to decline, she loved to do cross-stitch and knit. She would always remember someone with a hand knitted dish cloth or pair of slippers.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Floyd, her son Dale who passed away in April of 1972 and husband Cecil.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Judy Lundgren and husband Dwight of Essex; grandson Dustin Lundgren of Essex; her "special granddaughter" Delannie Miner also of Essex; brother Kenneth Mort and wife Laura of Pawnee City, NE; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends and wonderful neighbors that always kept an eye on her

Memorial services for Esther Runyan, age 88, of College Springs, Iowa, who entered into peace Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Goldenrod Manor, Clarinda, Iowa, will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at College Springs Presbyterian Church with Reverend James Crapson officiating. Visitation and lunch will be held following the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, College Springs, Iowa 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 25 prior to the service.

Esther Runyan, 88, passed away Sept 13, 2012, at Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda, Iowa.
She was born February 25, 1924, to George and Jennie (Wylie) Farquhar in their farm home between Coin and College Springs, Iowa. After graduating from Amity High School in 1941, she attended Tarkio College for two years to obtain a teacher's certificate. She taught 40 pupils in three grades for one year in Clearfield, Iowa, and then taught three years in Atlantic, Iowa. On June 14, 1947, she married Ivan Runyan. They purchased the farm where Esther was born and lived there for the next 59 years and raised their children Dan, Carolyn, Martha, and Randy. During this time she served many roles in the College Springs Presbyterian Church and was a substitute teacher in the South Page schools. Other activities included the neighborhood Sunshine Club and the Page County 4-H Council. For her family, she managed a large vegetable garden, fruit trees, a flock of 200 chickens, and flowers around the home. She also sewed for the family and herself, including the beautiful dress in her picture.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents George Farquhar and Jennie Wylie Farquhar, brother Richard Farquhar, sister Beth Cooper and husband Ben Cooper, sisters Marian Farquhar and Virginia Burch, brother in law Glen Runyan, son in law Claude Dawkins, and infant daughter Martha Jean.
She is survived by sister in law Grace Farquhar of Loveland, Colorado, brother in law John Burch of Norridge, Illinois, brother in law Walter and Rosemary Runyan of Elgin, Illinois, brother in law Don and Bessie Runyan of Gravette, Arkansas, brother in law Wayne and Vena Runyan of Westminster, Colorado, sister in law Thelma and Steve Young of Plano, Iowa. Also surviving are her children and their families Dan Runyan and Chris Lohry of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carolyn Dawkins of Shenandoah, Iowa, Martha and Randy Towne of Lafayette, Colorado, and Randy Runyan and Peng Xi Ping of Beijing, China. Russell, Delma Florence Marr - Delma Florence Russell was born August 12, 1923 in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Scott and Nellie (Camile) Marr. She passed away on Saturday evening, October 13, 2012 at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 1 day.
Delma grew up in the Superior, Iowa area and graduated from Superior High School. She later attended Iowa Lakes Community College and received her LPN training. She was married to George Howard Russell and the union was blessed with four children, James, Steve, Scott and Carolyn.
Delma worked as an LPN for over 40 years at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah and Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed crocheting, painting pictures, making jewelry and playing cards. Her true love was her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Carolyn.

Ryan, Robert Gene - Robert Gene Ryan was born December 26, 1965 in Clarinda, Iowa the son of Donald James, II and Beverly Verlee (Keith) Ryan. He passed away on Tuesday afternoon, August 28, 2012 from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident at the age of 46 years, 8 months and 2 days.
Gene grew up in Page County and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1986. He was married three times and blessed with 5 children, Courtney, Kent, Brandon, Robert and Colton. Gene loved being outside fishing, camping and working on cars. His true love was his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Donald Ryan, Jr; and his sister, Terri Lockerby.

Schave, Patricia June McGeoch - Patricia June Schave was born June 3, 1938 in Bishops Cleeve, England, the daughter of Jack and Winifred Ethel Mary (Hazzard) McGeoch. She passed away on Saturday evening, February 25, 2012 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 22 days.

Patricia grew up and graduated from high school in England. She later moved to the United States and raised her three sons. On January 9, 2004, she was united in marriage to Greg Schave in Shenandoah, Iowa. Patricia was a member of the Shenandoah Eagle’s Club. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. She was always up for a social or family gathering. She loved to go to garage sales and to shop for antiques. Her true love was her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Megan.

Survivors include her husband, Greg Schave of Shenandoah, Iowa; her three sons, Kenneth Dean Colebank of Red Oak, Iowa, Patrick James Colebank of Red Oak, Iowa, Michael Sean Colebank of Red Oak, Iowa; two brothers, Bruce McGeoch of Bishops Cleeve, England, John McGeoch of Preston, England; a sister, Vivian Stanley and her husband Les of Bishops Cleeve, England; along with many other relatives and friends

Schrader, Marjorie J. Stroud - MARJORIE J. SCHRADER, age 89 of Sidney, IA died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Sidney Ambassador following an extended illness.  Marjorie was born April 28, 1923 near Nodaway, Iowa to Edward Charles Stroud and Mary J (Lane) Stroud.  She graduated from Villisca High School in 1941.  She taught in rural schools in Taylor Co., and later attended some classes at Clarinda Jr. College. 

On January 12, 1945 she married Cecil Schrader in Clarinda, Iowa.  They farmed in Taylor Co. near Guss, Iowa.  They moved to the Shenandoah area in 1962 where she worked for Montgomery Ward, Tip Top packaging and Ross-Shenandoah Insurance.  She was a member of the Sidney United Methodist Church and UMW where she enjoyed working.  She belonged to the Research Club, Merry Few Club, and Shenandoah BPW for many years.  She enjoyed people, reading and flowers. 

Marjorie was preceded death by her Husband Cecil; parents; brother, Dale Stroud; and a sister, Bernice McCoy.  She is survived by her son, Roger Schrader and wife Sharon of Fremont, NE; 2 granddaughters, Naomi Gutz and husband Mike of Minneapolis, MN and Michele Wessels and husband Scott of LaVern, MN; 7 grandchildren, Victoria (Reed) Bohan, Dominic Reed, Zoe Gutz, Christian and Bailey Rise, Cameron and Calvin Wessels all of MN; several loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Semmons, Floyd Orville - Floyd Orville Semmons was born May 11, 1918 in Griswold, Iowa, the son of Fred Orville and Minnie P. (Chubick) Semmons. He passed away on Thursday morning, May 31, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 94 years and 20 days.
Shorty grew up in rural Page County and attended country school. He served his country in the United States Army. On April 17, 1936 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Dailey in Clarinda, Iowa. This union was blessed with eight children; Norma, Orville, Sue, Bill, Deloris, Elma, John and Marquitta.

Shorty worked as a mechanic for many years. He was at Duncan Motors in Clarinda and then Snyder Motors which later became Select Motors in Shenandoah. He loved to tinker with motors and helping his grandkids build things. He also enjoyed old cars and tractors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bonnie; his infant daughter, Marquitta; adopted son, Don Mayo; Grandsons, Curtis Semmons and Rick Orme; a brother, Harvey Semmons; and four sisters, Clara Usher, May Huffman, Elsie Semmons and Tillie Miller.

Survivors include his children, Norma Orme of Northboro, Iowa, Orville Semmons and his wife Beverly of Stanton, Iowa, Sue Stanley and her husband Jerry of Littleton, Colorado, Bill Semmons and Candy Cook of Aurora, Colorado, Deloris Petty and her husband Larry of Arvada, Colorado, Elma Semmons of Shenandoah, Iowa, John Semmons and his wife Rita of Imogene, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Shane, Jo Ellen King - Jo Ellen (King) Shane was born on November 13, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska the daughter of Donald Joseph and Mary Ellen (Hughes) King. Jo Ellen entered into eternal peace on March 19, 2012 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Jo Ellen's early years were spent in the community of Imogene where she attended school at St. Patrick School. Jo Ellen graduated with the Class of 1961. She was united in marriage to Tom Shane in 1962 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. This union was blessed with five children; Michael, Lisa, Tim, Jim and Shelley.

During her working years Jo Ellen was employed by Henry Fields Nursery, the Tall Corn Motel, where she worked in the kitchen and the Shenandoah Medical Center, where she also worked in the kitchen. She retired in 2007. Jo Ellen was a quiet, sweet, very accepting, forgiving and loving lady who never had an enemy.

Some of her interests included gardening and raising her children. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and participated in the Relay for Life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant grandchild. Dorothy Eva Shoemaker was born August 16, 1927, at Yorktown, Iowa to Forest Emery Young and Pearl Arvilla (Atwood) Young. She grew up in the Yorktown area attending elementary school at Yorktown and graduating from Clarinda High School. She continued her education at Northwest Missouri State College at Maryville receiving a teaching degree. On March 7, 1946, she was united in marriage to Charles Henry Shoemaker, Jr. They were blessed with three daughters, Laura, Teresa and Myra Maureen.

Dorothy and Junior farmed in the Siam area. In addition to raising her family and helping with the farm, she taught in rural schools and later worked at the Super Value grocery store as a clerk. Dorothy was an active member of the Siam Church of Christ. She directed and taught Bible School and took care of the flowers at the church. She was a member of the Willing Workers and H. C. clubs. Dorothy enjoyed the hand tooled leather crafts taught through the Page County Extension office. She also enjoyed volunteering at the museum and reading to the elderly. Genealogy was a special interest and she researched and compiled her family tree. Dorothy will be remembered for her philosophy of life of an "open heart and open home'. Her home was always open to anyone with a need and they were welcomed and loved and made comfortable.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; husband, Junior Shoemaker; daughter, Myra Maureen Shoemaker; great grandson, Hunter Cole; siblings, Violet Glassgow, Paul Young, Robert Young, Harriet Wigle, Maybel Nelsen, and Clyde Young.

Bertha "Elizabeth" Slaight was born in the family home southwest of Clarinda on July 30, 1927. She was the third child of Elmer Charles Couch and Mary Elizabeth (Winger) Couch. She attended Lee Grove grade school on the Page Center Road and graduated in 1942. Elizabeth worked in Clark and Alma Brockman's home helping with the family chores around the house.

Elizabeth was united in marriage to George Samuel Slaight in New Market, Iowa on August 3, 1947. They lived in New Market in the house that George had purchased before going into military service. George's mother, Luie (Thompson) Slaight lived with them until her death in 1966. After George passed away, Elizabeth continued to live there until moving to Clarinda in 2007.

Elizabeth was a waitress at the café in New Market for many years. She then worked in Bedford at O'Bryan's sewing factory until her retirement in 1992. She continued working doing child care in New Market for a few more years.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, George (1995); son, David George Slaight (2005); two sisters, Annabelle Meier (1994) and Beulah Marvin (1989); and a brother, Isaac Couch (1964).

She is survived by five granddaughters, Tracy Borders of Bothell, Washington, Angela Whited of Des Moines, Iowa, Katy Harfmann, Kristy Brust of Phoenix, Arizona and Karen Slaight of Virginia Beach, Virginia; seven great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many friends. DeAnna M. Slough was born May 5, 1945 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford Carmichael and LaMead (Pratt) Carmichael. She was a life long resident of Clarinda, attending Clarinda Schools and graduating from Clarinda High School in 1963. She continued education at Iowa Western Community College at a later date when her children were older. Dee was united in marriage on January 16, 1965 to James Slough at Clarinda, Iowa. They were blessed with two sons, Scott and Steve.

Dee worked for Shore Motor Company in sales for over twenty eight years, retiring in 2007. She was a very successful sales person. Following retirement, she enjoyed working with her friend Betty at Betty's Dream.

Dee was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Clarinda Country Club where she loved to play golf and so enjoyed being with her golfing friends. She was a past Worthy Advisor of Rainbow. Dee and Jim enjoyed wintering in Texas. She loved to cook, always willing to try new recipes and especially liked Italian food and wine. She enjoyed working around the home with painting and interior decorating. Her family was her passion and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Dee was a strong willed woman always ready to lend an opinion.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents.

William Roy Slough, 74, a life long resident of rural Blanchard, Iowa, died Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska. He was born April 6, 1938, near Elmo, Missouri, to William Slough and Elizabeth (McIntosh) Slough. Bill grew up in the rural Blanchard area. He was a 1956 graduate of Amity High School, College Springs, Iowa. On July 27, 1959, Bill was united in marriage to Judith Elaine Geer at the College Springs Presbyterian church. They were blessed with three children, Vickie, Mark and Laurie.

Bill and Judy and family owned and operated a large dairy farm for forty four years in rural College Springs. After he retired from the dairy, Bill remained an active farmer and started a cow/calve operation. Bill and Judy enjoyed traveling to Branson and with their camper took trips to Wyoming and to the Iowa State Fair. Bill was a life long, active member of the Presbyterian Church, College Springs, Iowa.

Preceding Bill in death were his parents, William and Elizabeth Slough and his parents-in-law, Leonard and Darlene Geer.

Smith, Glenn H. - Glenn H. Smith, 93 of Nevada died on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Story County Senior Care in Nevada. Glenn was born on September 7, 1918 in Clarinda, Iowa to William H. and Goldie Ruth (Humphrey) Smith. He served with the 90th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army and earned the Silver Star. On March 21, 1942, Glenn married Edna I. Thompson in Maryville, MO. He was employed with O.K. Tire Shop, now known as Big 8 Tyre Center in Nevada. Glenn was a member of the William F. Ball American Legion Post #48, V.F.W. Nevada Post #2209, and also was an avid member of the Democratic Party. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and loved spending time with his great grandchildren.
Glenn is survived by a son, Garey (Carole) Smith of Maxwell; 3 grandchildren Todd Smith, Eric Smith, and Candace Ashman; 5 great-grandchildren.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna on March 18, 2004, a brother Kenneth Smith, and a sister Ilene.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16 with the family present from 5-7:00 p.m. again at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.

Smith, James Dean - James Dean Smith was born October 31, 1955 in Red Oak, Iowa to Philip and Edna (Baker) Smith. He graduated from Villisca High School in the class of 1973.
Jim worked primarily as a farmer in the Villisca area with several farmers. He also was a skilled welder.
Jim passed away November 1, 2012 at the age of 57 at the Clarinda Regional Health Center. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Francis Hemphill.

Smith, Lester O. - Lester O. Smith was born June 23, 1956 in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Robert J. and Helen (Hedger) Smith. He passed away suddenly on Thursday afternoon, February 23, 2012 at the Clarinda Regional Health Center in Clarinda, Iowa at the age of 55 years and 8 months.

Lester grew up in Atlantic and attended Atlantic public schools. He later served his country in the Iowa National Guard. On September 26, 1987 he was united in marriage to Linda Woolverton at the Memorial Baptist Church in Shenandoah. This union was blessed with two children, Natasha and Jason.

Lester enjoyed model cars and trains. You could always find him outside tinkering with a car or two in the driveway. He also liked repairing shoes and driving a truck. Lester loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and walking his dogs. He was always cracking a joke and always enjoyed a John Wayne movie. His true love was his children. He loved helping them with their various school projects.

He was preceded in death by parents.

Snyder, Clarence L. Jr - Clarence L. Snyder "Junior" passed away on Sunday morning at the Shenandoah Medical Center. He is survivied by his wife Elaine of the home.

Clarence L. Snyder, Jr. son of Clarence L. Snyder, Sr. and Doris R. Snyder was born on February 28, 1922 in Corydon, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the Shenandoah Medical Center at the age of 90.

Clarence was a graduate of Shenandoah High School, and on September 12, 1941 married the love of his life Beth Elaine Mackoy. In 1942 he was called into the US Army serving with the 383rd Infantry Regiment of the 96th Infantry Division known as the "Dead Eyes". He saw service in the Philippines and Ryukyus Islands. He was in charge of a 12-man rifle squad and supervised the loading, aiming and firing of weapons such as mortars, machine guns, pistols, bazookas, grenades and the use of trench knives. He also instructed men in the use of camouflage, the ability to map read and tactical use of weapons. As platoon guide, he led men on scouting patrols into enemy territory, which included the taking of Okinawa and was enroute to Japan for a full-scale invasion when the surrender was announced and signed. He received the Bronze Star, the Bronze Arrowhead Star and two Purple Heart Ribbons.

Upon his return to Shenandoah, Clarence entered into business with his wife and parents, establishing the Snyder Motor Company from 1946-1969. He continued to visit the company regularly and enjoyed Saturday morning coffee with the guys. Clarence remained active in the Shenandoah and Farragut area through his farming interests. He was a life long member of the Shenandoah American Legion Post #88 and the BPOE.

No one enjoyed people as much as Clarence. He was able to quickly identify and establish a rapport with people he met and could tell a joke better than most. He is remembered for his love of family, his friends and love of country. His wife and family are very appreciative of the acts of kindness by the many friends who knew Clarence by many names: Snyder, Junior, Snyd or Snyda.

Spargur, Letty Elaine Mortimore - Letty Elaine (Mortimore) Spargur was born on March 14, 1919 in Riverton, Iowa, the daughter of Josephine Tina Mortimore. Elaine entered into eternal peace on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Shenandoah Medical Center.

Elaine's early years were spent in the community of Riverton where she attended school. Elaine graduated from Riverton High School with the Class of 1936. She was the last surviving classmate. An honor that was bestowed upon Elaine was being crowned Miss Riverton.

On April 10, 1948 Elaine was united in marriage to LeRoy Spargur in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple, along with Elaine's son, Ramon made their home in Shenandoah, Iowa. Elaine worked for Leacox and Redfield Corner Drug as a clerk for a number of years, before becoming a secretary at Earl May Seed and Nursery Company. Elaine was a dedicated employee for Mr. Raymond Sawyer, Mr. Bill Overby, Mr. Bill Levere and Mr. John Kidd. She worked for the company for 38 years, before her retirement in 1985.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she enjoyed being a member of the choir. She was also a longtime member of the BPW and the Shenandoah Hospital Auxiliary. Some of her passions included golfing, singing, baking for others and tending to her flower beds. The most important thing in her life was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Spending time with her family, brought her much joy.

She was proceeded in death by her mother. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 64 years LeRoy "Spike Spargur of Shenandoah; son Ramon Henderson and wife Kymberley of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren Kristin Lynn Henderson of Chicago, IL, Melissa Rae McBride and husband Matt also of Chicago, IL and Christopher Paul Henderson and wife Amy of Fort Worth, TX; two great-grandchildren Matthew and Mason McBride; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. Pastor Ed Powers gave the words of comfort. Justin Sons sang "Going Home" and the congregation sang "Amazing Grace". Pianist was Carolee Rees. Ushers were Darrell Jones and Gary Milstead. Caring for the flowers were Phyllis J. Funk, Phyllis Scott and JoDayle Irvin. Attending the memory register were Lucille Lawson and Sandy Apperson. Squires, Cody William - Cody William Squires was born September 20, 1989 in Pocahontas, Iowa; the only son to Chester and Sherry (Hawks) Squires. Cody grew up in the Pocahontas area until later on his family moved to Shenandoah. Cody's daughter, Zoey was born November 16, 2011 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He enjoyed spending time with Zoey, his nephew Isaac and Jacelyn Huntley. Cody treasured his family and friends and the time spent with them. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, drawing and listening to music.

Cody passed away on September 26, 2012, in Omaha, Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mahlon, Jr. and Marie Squires; maternal grandparents William and Ruth Hawks; and several aunts and uncles.

Stava, June D. Anderson - June D. Stava was born on February 13, 1926 in Merino, Colorado, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Woodle) Anderson. June entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska.

June's early years were spent in Merino and Southwest Iowa. She attended primary school in Northboro and graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Martin Stava on June 26, 1945 in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Shenandoah.

June worked for Tidy House as a secretary. She later worked in Omaha at Creighton University as an academic secretary. She was highly organized and efficient. She was a valuable asset to the companies she served.

June enjoyed volunteering at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. She also enjoyed her neighborhood family in Omaha. She was a compassionate woman and loved spending time with family and friends. Although her and Martin didn't have any children of their own, many children looked to her as that "special" woman in in their life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Martin; sisters Catherine in infancy and Carolyn Day; and brothers Lynn, Ike, Jim and John Anderson. Steinhoefel, Dale - Dale Steinhoefel was born January 18, 1926 in Humphrey, Nebraska, the son of George and Sylvia M. (Siphley) Steinhoefel. He passed away on Friday evening, September 21, 2012 at his home in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 3 days.

Dale grew up in Nebraska and graduated from the Sheldon Academy in 1942. Following high school he served in the United States Navy. On October 18, 1986 he was united in marriage to Nora Williams in Emerson, Iowa.

Dale worked for the United States Postal Service for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His true love was his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lois Days; and his step daughter, Kathy Blank.

Stephens, Lois Evelyn Beavers - Funeral services for Lois Stephens, age 86, of rural Villisca, Iowa, who entered into peace Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa, was held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend Gordon Scott and Reverend Beckie Linn Gregory officiating. Visitation with the family was held 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be private at a later date at the Villisca Cemetery, Villisca, Iowa.
Lois Evelyn Beavers was born November 18, 1925, on the family farm south of Villisca, Iowa, the first child of Anna Ruth (Adkins) and Walter L. Beavers. Lois passed away on May 24, 2012, in Clarinda, Iowa. Lois attended Sams Country School and graduated from Villisca Community High School in 1943. She attended Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville, Missouri in 1946 with a Bachelors degree in elementary education.
After teaching Kindergarten for two years in Keokuk, IA, Lois married Carl Stephens in rural Bedford, Iowa, on June 6, 1948. To this union six children were born: Marie, Howard, Marc, Cecil, Martha, and Mary. Lois was a dedicated wife, farm partner, and mother. Lois enjoyed collecting stamps, scrap booking, camping, gardening, canning, sewing and quilting. She made many quilts and blankets for her family and friends. Lois enjoyed her family, researching and gathering family history, attending many reunions, and family activities.
Lois was an active member of the First Christian Church, Clarinda, Iowa, and CWF. Lois was a member of DAR, Eastern Star, Farm Bureau, and a 4-H volunteer and leader for many years. She was Farm Bureau Homemaker of the Year in 1968.
Lois is survived by husband of almost 64 years, Carl and children: Marie (Doug) Weddle of Villisca, IA; Howard (Janelle) Stephens of Ames, IA; Marc (Carrie) Stephens of Kingwood, TX; Martha (Craig) Herzberg of Villisca, IA; Mary (Brian) Carlson of Red Oak, IA; Grandchildren: Bill Waldron, Chris Gregory, Angie Waldron, Steve Waldron, Eric Waldron, Traci Haselhuhn, David Stephens, Emily Spencer, Samantha Stephens, Shana Brown, Alex Herzberg, Rachel Herzberg, Elizabeth Herzberg, Jackie Carlson, Danny Carlson, Nick Carlson, and Katie Carlson; Great-grandchildren: Aiden, Owen, Liam and Faith Gregory, Trust Marshall, Connor and Mason Gellender, Nathan and Brooke Brown, Tyler and Hannah Haselhuhn, Kelsey Stephens, and baby Spencer; sister Arlene Slater of Harvard, NE; brother Tom (Pat) Beavers of Shenandoah, IA; sister-in-law Ruby (Rube) Turner, Hopkins, MO; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Preceding Lois in death were her parents, Walter and Ruth (Adkins) Beavers; sister, Virginia (Beavers) Slater; son, Cecil Lee Stephens; brothers-in-law, Roland Slater, Don Slater, Ed Herzberg; sister-in-law, Frances (Stephens) Herzberg.

Stewart, Connie Huddle - Connie Stewart, 77, of Cascade, Iowa, formerly of Grinnell, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Manor Care, Dubuque, Iowa, surrounded by her family.
Services were held Monday, March 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Grinnell Christian Church.

Connie was born October 23, 1934 in Clarinda, Iowa, the daughter of Ural K. and Kathryn (Howard) Huddle. Connie worked for General Telephone, Grinnell College, Hy-Vee and retired from all three.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, canning, cooking, and especially shopping. Connie was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan. What she enjoyed most were her children and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Shari (Rick) Kizer of Dubuque, Iowa, and Rhonda Kizer of Grinnell, Iowa; her grandchildren, Lonnie Stewart of Altoona, Iowa, Matthew Kizer of Grinnell, and Marcus Kizer of Newton, Iowa; two great-grandsons, Corbin of Grinnell, and Kaeden of Williamsburg, Iowa; her niece and nephew, Connie and Kelly Campbell, both of Colorado; her great-niece and great-nephew, Lindsey and Kyle, both of Colorado; and her brother-in-law, Bernie Heese of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Judi Heese.
A Connie Stewart Memorial Fund has been established.

Strange, Wade Ugene - Wade Ugene Strange, age 42, passed away March 20, 2012 at his home in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Wade was born March 25, 1969 in Iowa City, Iowa to Russell Strange and Wanitta Larson. He spent most of his life in the Blanchard area and graduated from South Page High School in 1987.

Wade was currently working for Golden Living Nursing Home in Nebraska City and had worked for Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah.

Wade enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music, doing woodworking, going fishing, and going out driving around. He also enjoyed watching ghost stories shows on T.V.

Wade was preceded in death by his aunt Jeanitta Brownfield and Grandmother Maxine Larson.

Sunderman, Marilyn Hope Parker - Marilyn Hope Sunderman was born on December 8, 1937, in Clarinda, Iowa to John Wesley Weaver and Nadine J. Parker. She entered into rest at the Clarinda Regional Health Center on October 17, 2012 at the age of 74, after battling cancer.
Marilyn graduated from Junior College in Clarinda, Iowa and became an L.P.N. at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital where her passion was working in the Surgery Department. On August 20, 1966 she married Lester D. Sunderman. Marilyn and Lester lived on a farm southwest of Clarinda. Marilyn left the hospital to stay at home to raise her children and help with the farm. She later returned to caring for others when she began working at Goldenrod Manor. After retiring, Marilyn and Lester moved into town. One of Marilyn’s favorite activities was cooking and baking for her family and guests.
Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents, John and Nadine Weaver, brother-in-law Virgil Sunderman, sister Marian Cabeen, brother-in-law Howard Cabeen, and sister Beverly Strong.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarinda with Rev. Daryl Tompkins officiating. Interment is at the Clarinda Cemetery. Family visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice. Teeters, Drue Darwin - Drue Darwin Teeters was born April 3, 1938 at Clarinda, Iowa to Frank D. Wilson Teeters and Dorothy Marguirette (Skemaihorn) Teeters. He entered into rest February 12, 2012 at Blue Valley Lutheran Home, Hebron, Nebraska.
Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Margie Teeters, sister Seclecca Culver, Dorothy Colwell, Glenna “Bonnie” Whaley, Lelah Peterson, and Ferrol Jean Holt. Survived by brother Daniel James Teeters, and sister Elva Raye Perry, both of Omaha, Ne. Drue also leaves a host of nieces and nephews. Drue was a resident of Blue Valley Lutheran Care Home of Hebron, Ne.

Terrones, Nancy Ann Lewis - Nancy Ann (Lewis) Terrones was born on September 15, 1937 in Bedford, Iowa, the daughter of French "Toby" and Maymie Ardella (Shehan) Lewis. Nancy entered into eternal peace on Monday, May 14, 2012 at her home in Shenandoah, Iowa following an extended illness.

Nancy grew up in the Bedford community and spent most of her life in the area. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Frank Deardorff in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple was blessed with two daughters, but always had plenty of other kids around the house, that she affectionately referred to as her own.

She leaves behind her sisters, a brother, and many other friends who loved her very much. She was a kind-hearted woman who will be deeply missed.

Tillman, Glenna Louise Mahaffey - Glenna Louise Tillman was born April 7, 1937 in Dreshler, Nebraska, the daughter of Leo and Merna (Dart) Mahaffey. She passed away on Sunday afternoon, April 8, 2012 at The Ambassador Care Center in Sidney, Iowa at the age of 75 years and 1 day.

Glenna grew up in eastern Nebraska and graduated from Holdridge High School in 1955. She later obtained her CNA certification. On December 17, 1960, she was united in marriage to Carl Tillman in Lincoln, Nebraska. This union was blessed with six children.

In her younger years she worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln. Then she raised her children and worked at the Sidney Health Center for a couple of years. At this time she became a full time grandmother. She enjoyed to cross stitch. She also liked to sing and draw as long as no one was watching her. Her true love was her family, especially her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merna and Joe Stibik; two sons, Rodney and Bradley Tillman; sister, Marilee Mallory, brother-in-laws Jim Cornett and Ray Gephart; mother and father-in-law, Roy & Gladys Tillman; brothers-in-law, Frederick Tillman and Marvin Kelsey; brother & sister-in-law, Kenneth and Virginia Holland.

Survivors include her husband, Carl of Sidney, Iowa; her children, Carlene Higgins and her husband Tim of Ankeny, Iowa, John Tillman and his wife Deb of Lenox, Iowa, Michael Tillman of Shenandoah, Iowa, Bonnie Dunn and her husband Mark of Shenandoah, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Krista Tillman of Hamburg, Iowa; step sons, Craig Tillman and his wife Rosemary of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Carl Tillman, Jr. of Glenwood, Iowa, step daughter, Teresa Davis and her husband Dan of Columbus, Ohio, Debbie Woods of Kansas City, Missouri, 25 grandchildren; many, many great grandchildren that she loved very much, “Bless their little hearts”; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Timmerman, Velma Lucille McAlpin - Velma Lucille (McAlpin) Timmerman was born September 10, 1918 in the New Market, Iowa area to Russell Ora and Hazel Lulu (Taylor) McAlpin. She graduated from Villisca High School in the Class of 1936. Lucille married James Henry Timmerman on June 10, 1936 in Rockport, Missouri.

Lucille worked as a farmwife raising her three sons. She was a great cook and loved her family and family get togethers. Her favorite hobbies were watching ice skating and tennis on the television, especially Rafael Nadal.

Lucille passed away at the age of 93 on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son Lonnie D. Timmerman and his wife Paula.

Surviving Lucille are her sons: Larry Robert Timmerman and wife Carolyn of Essex, Connecticut and Lyle Dean Timmerman and wife Sue of Nodaway, Iowa; grandchildren: Jenice Hammitt and husband Gary of Vincent, Iowa, Lesley Timmerman of Des Moines, Iowa, Lisa Jackson and husband Steve of Des Moines, Iowa, Bernie Timmerman of Johnston, Iowa, Chris Timmerman of Portland, Oregon, Erik Timmerman and wife Bonnie of Morrisville, Vermont, Cole Timmerman and wife Denise of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, David Timmerman and wife Kim of Earlham, Iowa and Andy Timmerman and wife Liz of Nodaway, Iowa; 16 great grandchildren; sister Elnora Williams and husband Calvin of Clarinda, Iowa; brother James McAlpin and wife Louvada of New Market, Iowa.

Funeral services for Velma Lucille will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Burial will follow the service in the Nodaway Cemetery in Nodaway, Iowa. Charles Phillip Tritsch was born June 27, 1927 to Carl Edward Tritsch and Mary Frances (Gray) Tritsch in Percival, Iowa. His parents later moved to Farragut, Iowa. Charles graduated from Farragut High School in 1945. Following graduation, Charles started farming with his father and farmed many years.
In 1953, on September 6 he was married to Naomi Ruth Johnson in College Springs, Iowa at the Methodist Church. They were blessed with two children, Vicki Jeanine Tritsch born January 1956 who married Michael Nally and Gary Charles Tritsch born June 1957 and married Teresa Scroggs.
Charles received his Second Lieutenant commission in the National Guard of Iowa at Ft. Benning, Georgia in 1955. He was company commander of Clarinda, Villisca, and Corning Units and served on the Battalion Staff. He retired as a Captain. Charles was appointed to the Page County Board of Supervisors in 1982 and served on the board for ten years. Charles was a fifty year Mason. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarinda and the Together Sunday School Class.
In 1982, Charles and Ruth retired to watch many sports, music, and drama performances at Clarinda and South Page Schools that their seven grandchildren were engaged in. They enjoyed traveling until Charles' health started to decline and their traveling became limited and they just enjoyed family in Braddyville after living fifty five years on the farm.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Tritsch; parents-in-law, Roy and Ethel Johnson; brothers, Jack and Delbert Tritsch; nieces, Judy Smith and Patti Switzer.

Tritsch, John "Michael" - Graveside services for Michael Tritsch, age 63, of Clarinda, Iowa, who entered into peace Friday, June 14, 2012 at his residence in Clarinda, Iowa, were held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Elmwood Cemetery, Coin, Iowa with Reverend Andrew Rubenking officiating. Visitation with the family were held at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Coin, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Clarinda Foundation or to the Red Oak YMCA.
John Michael Tritsch was born March 23, 1949, in Shenandoah, Iowa to Myron Tritsch and Doris (Christensen) Tritsch. He grew up in the Coin, College Springs area graduating from South Page High School in 1969.
Following high school, Mike lived in Omaha, Red Oak and most recently in Clarinda. While living in Omaha, he worked in the laundry at the University of Nebraska Hospital. Mike was a member of the Presbyterian Church while living in Red Oak and currently a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarinda. He enjoyed the Red Oak YMCA and the Clarinda Lied Center. Mike was a collector of toy tractors. He also enjoyed the fellowship of the various coffee groups that he attended.
Preceding Mike in death was his mother, Doris Tritsch.
Left to cherish his memory are his father, Myron Tritsch of Clarinda, Iowa; brothers, Steven Tritsch and wife Melissa of Lenexa, Kansas and David Tritsch and wife Debbie of Council Bluffs, Iowa; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and many friends.
