Brown – Blair – Thos L. Brown and Miss Effie L. Blair were united in marriage this afternoon at 3:30, at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs L.V. Mr Brown is employed in the Loranz & Co abstract office and a very promising young business man. Courtright – Barger – Mrs Julia Courtright announces the marriage of her daughter, Pearl Charlotte Courtright to Herbert Clair Barger on Tuesday, Nov 26^th, the ceremony taking place at St Joe, Mo. After the ceremony, Mr and Mrs Paul Hoops, formerly of this city gave a wedding supper in their honor. The couple are residents of Clarinda, the groom being a son of Mr and Mrs C.M. Barger of this city, and in the employ of the Benedict Piano Co. The bride is a Clarinda girl, having graduated from the Clarinda High school, and is a member of the Omega Tau club.

Before returning to Clarinda, Mr and Mrs Barger will visit relatives near St Joseph, and will return home by way of Omaha. Returning to Clarinda, they will make their home in their bungalow at 215 W. Nodaway street. Mrs Barger will continue her work with Dr Killingsworth for the present.

Cunning – Wamsley – Last Wednesday evening at 8:30 o’clock, at the home of Miss Nan Vinsant, three miles northeast of this city, was solemonized the marriage of Miss Nina Cunning and Mr Glen Wamsley, Rev A.S. Woodard performing the ceremony by the use of the ring service. About fifty relatives and friends were present.

As the wedding march was played by Loel Cramer of this city, the bridal couple took it’s place before a screen of smilax and apple blossems [sic] in the parlor where the ceremony was performed. There were no attendants. ...

Mrs Wamsley is the daughter of Hiram Cunning of this city and since her mother’s death, several years ago has made her home with her aunt, Miss Vinsant. She is spoken of as a model young woman. Mr Wamsley is an enterprising young farmer the son of Mrs Joanna Wamsley. He too, is a person of excellent habits.

Driftmier – Strong – The marriage of Mr Charles Beryl Strong, son of Mr and Mrs E.G. Strong and Miss Wilma Irene Driftmier was solemnized at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs John F. McCord – Damewood – At the home of the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs J.H. Damewood, on south Seventeenth street on Sunday afternoon at three o’clock, occurred the wedding of Miss Ethel Damewood, to Mr Lloyd McCord, son of Mr and Mrs S.J. McCord, also of this city. Rev O.M. Pennock of the Christian church officiated at this pleasant occasion.

Both the bride and groom are well known in this city, having left Clarinda only recently, the bride a year or more ago, to work at the printing trade in Lincoln, Nebr., and the groom about the same time to Red Oak, to work at Plumbing. Their home will be at the latter place where Lloyd is doing nicely. Mr McCord, while in this city, was a member of the band and orchestra, and we notice that he is keeping up his work in this line also, as he is a member of the Comet Musical Company, of Red Oak.

McKee – Cassell – Mr W.E. McKee and Mrs Elizabeth Cassell of Clearmont [Missouri] were married Tuesday in St Joseph [Missouri]. Pinkerton, of Tarkio, Mo., were married in the parlors of the Latonia hotel at Covington, Ken., Thursday evening, Jan 24^th, 1901, Rev George A. Miller, of the First Christian church, officiating.

I have found a Frederick A. Nelson (parents: F. C. Nelson and Abbie Gardner) married Margaret J. Earhart (parents: Daniel Earhart and Sarah E. Hood) on Febuary 21, 1904. License #3865, bk H, pg 379. Neither had been married before.

Frederick was born in Iowa (abt 27 Dec 1869, Harlan Twp Page County) and was 33 years old and living in Cascade, Cascade County, Montana.

Margaret was born at Page County, Iowa and was 31 years old and living in Chicago, Ill. They were married by a minister of the gospel and witnesses were:

Orth – Westerfield – The marriage of Mr G.G. Westerfield of Des Moines and Miss Fannie Secrest Orth of this city will take place at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs John A. Orth, at four o’clock, this Thursday afternoon, June 21, Rev D.S. Curry, pastor of the Presbyterian church, performing the ceremony by the use of the double ring service. Only relatives, to the number of twenty, will be present. Gertrude Moritz and John Orth Beckner will carry the rings in lilies other than these there will be no attendants.

Following the ceremony, light refreshments will be served. The couple will then take the 5:20 train for the east where they will visit Mr Westerfield’s relatives at Anderson and Indianapolis, Ind. Returning in ten days they will stop at Chicago. They will make their future home in Des Moines.

Ott – Nelson – At eight o’clock last Thursday evening at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs S.W. Nelson, on west Main street, occurred the marriage of Miss Jessie A. Nelson to Mr Clarence Ott, formerly of Mound City, now of Clarinda. The bride and groom entered the front parlor where were assembled some twenty-five relatives and immediate friends, to the strains of Mendelsshon’s wedding march, played by Miss Zula Payton. Rev Robt A. Cameron, of the Presbyterian church pronounced the sacred words which made the couple man and wife. During the ceremony Miss Payton played softly Mendelsshon’s Spring Song. The bride and groom were unattended, the former being dressed in white and carrying a bouquet of pink and white roses, carrying out the colors of her club, the R.T.K.

Following the ceremony a two course wedding supper was served, congratulations were showered upon the happy couple and then they were escorted by a party of friends to their new home on north 20^th street, which was all ready for occupancy. They received many beautiful and useful presents and a charivari which just about equaled anything in the neighborhood for some time past.

The bride is an accomplished and popular young lady, well known in Clarinda. The groom has just been in the city for a few weeks, being a clerk in Cook’s Clothing Store, and bids fair to become a worthy addition to the successful young business men around the square. The Herald extends congratulations.

Shockey – Ingraham – Chas Shockey and Miss Lizzie Ingraham were married at 8 o’clock last evening and at once took up their home in J.F. Thompson’s house near the Baptist church. The ceremony was a very quiet affair, but it soon became public and a large number gathered there for an old time charivari, and by the noise made they had a genuine one. Strong – Boman – A wedding around which much interest has centered for some time past, was that which took place at noon Wednesday at the home of Mr and Mrs E.G. Woodard, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, performed the ceremony by the use of the double ring service which was said in the parlor of the Strong home before a background of greenery, mostly ferns. Only immediate relatives were present. The bridal couple was not attended. ... The bride and groom left today on the noon train for Fostoria, O. where they will visit for a month with the groom’s parents, Rev and Mrs Lafayette Boman, and other relatives. They will begin housekeeping July 1, in the new house which Mrs [sic] W.A. Henderson is erecting for them on North Thirteenth St.
