Donna Faye (Klinkenborg) Ohling
1964-2002
Donna Ohling, age 37, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died on Thursday morning at her home in Sioux Falls from cancer. A Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Falls, located at 4800 E. Tomar Rd., with Rev. Wayne Van Regenmorter officiating. Donna Faye Klinkenborg was born October 18, 1964 at Rock Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Everon and Esther (Klaassen) Klinkenborg. Donna was raised on the Klinkenborg family farm at Rock Rapids, and graduated from Central Lyon High School in 1983. She attended Carver Institute in Omaha after high school, and graduatedin 1984. She worked at Lyon County State Bank in Rock Rapids until 1989.
On May 27, 1989 Donna was united in marriage to Ron Ohling at her home church, Salem Reformed Church of Little Rock. The newly wed couple made their home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. While in Sioux Falls she worked at First National Bank of Sioux Falls as a personal banking representative. In 1992 she was promoted to a personal banking trainer. Along with her banking career she attended the University of South Dakota. From 1993 until 1999 she took night and weekend classes and earned a Business Management Degree with high honors. Donna worked diligently to achieve more education along with advancing herself in her banking career to training officer. She was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, American Society for Training and Development, Center for Public Higher Education Advisory Council, Management Research Associates, First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls and a cancer support group.
Donna had a great personality. Her love for her family and others did not go unnoticed. Ron and Donna enjoyed spending time together, either taking a vacation or or going to her family farm for a day. After a two year battle with cancer, three months ago Donna's health declined, and she died at her home in Sioux Falls at the age of 37.
Donna is survived by her husband, Ron Ohling; her father, Everon Klinkenborg of Rock Rapids; seven brothers, Tom and Audra Klinkenborg of Rock Rapids; Jerry Klinkenborg of Rock Rapids; Merle and Kae Klinkenborg of Sioux Falls; Randy and Davis Klinkenborg both of Rock Rapids; Jim an Jean Klinkenborg of Sibley; and Myron and Mary Klinkenborg of Rock Rapids; and a father and mother-in-law Egbert and Darlene Ohling of Rock Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Edith Klaassen; and John and Flora Klinkenborg; mother, Esther Klinkenborg; and one niece, Melanie Klinkenborg.
Arrangements were by the Roste Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.
