Iowa State Penitentiary
Ft Madison, Lee County Iowa
Compiled by Sally Youngquist
July 2009 (Contributed by P.M.)
This cemetery is reported to be at the south edge of the prison
farm,
adjacent to Cherry Grove on the north side. The early burials were
originally
in the prison and were moved to a common grave noted with the symbol
* ahead of
the given name. The listings I have are from the death book and
information
received from the Iowa State Penitentiary. © 2005 Old Fort
