Fran Eichler has been a faithful contributor to the Johnson County IAGenWeb site. I visited with her in October 2006 at Kalona News where she was employed. She was eager for another assignment. We were considering another cemetery that needed documenting. It is sad that this ambitious lady was not allowed to continue with her service to the IAGenWeb. Lone Tree Cemetery Record 2500 names Swank Cemetery 800 names Iowa City Oakland Cemetery Records many names but number not determined ------------------------- Frances Eichler, 62 Frances "Fran" Marie Eichler, 62 of Kalona died Saturday, January 20, 2007 with her husband and her son by her side. A gathering will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm at Lensing Funeral Home & Cremation Services -- 605 Kirkwood Ave. Iowa City. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Paws and More Animal Shelter -- 1004 W. Madison, Washington, IA. The money goes towards animal adoption. Fran was born August 31, 1944 in Lone Tree, Iowa the daughter of Francis Bernard and Merle Marie (Holland) Bekker. Fran was a graduate of Lone Tree High School. On October 9, 1965 at St. Mary's Church in Lone Tree, IA she married Louis Raymond Eichler. She worked at the University of Iowa as an administrative assistant in the Dermatology department. Later in life she worked for the Kalona News. Fran is survived by her husband, Lou of Kalona, one son, Dave Eichler of Austin, TX, three grand children, Brittany, Sebastian and Austin Eichler all of Austin, TX. She is also survived by one sister, Jackie Stinocher and one niece, Wendy Stinocher both of Iowa City, IA. |
