The township was organized in
1870. The first trustees were Alexander Waldron, B. F. Wagner. And
Jacob Openheimer; the first clerk was Amos R. Cherry. The first
assessor was Otto Means. The first official meetings of the board were
held at the office of the township clerk….. The first school house was
called the Crawford or Cherry school house. The entire township
constitutes one school district, with eight sub-districts.
