Urania L. Thompson, age 91, of Albert Lea, Minn., formerly of Northwood, Iowa died Monday, July 1, 2002 at the St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, Minn.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 5, 2002 at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood, Iowa with Rev. Allan Stoa officiating. Burial took place at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Northwood, Iowa.

Urania was born on September 12, 1910 in Sterling, Alberta, Canada to George and Ada (Sumpter) Lockie. She went to Cut Bank, Montana and Riceville, Iowa with her parents. She finished high school and started to teach in Howard County. Later she went to work in Mason City in a fabric store. At that time she met Ernest and later they were married. They lived on a farm near Northwood for several years and then moved into town until his death April 29, 1991.

After his death she sold their home and moved to Knutson Place in Albert Lea. During June 1995 she became ill and moved into St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, Minn. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Northwood, Iowa.

Urania was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest, two children, Doris and James, one sister, and one brother.

Survivors include her brother, Charles Lockie of Dewey, Ariz.; several grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Luella Thompson of Albert Lea, Minn.
