Stark, Cal Dr. 1905 - 2002CEDAR RAPIDS -- Dr. Cal Stark, 96, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001 in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids after a brief illness. Funeral Services were Friday, Nov. 16 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church Cedar Rapids by Rev. Gerald Condon. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at Stewart Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where there was a Military Service at 5 p.m. and Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Stark was born Sept. 15, 1905 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Joseph and Ida (Weinke) Stark. He married Alyce Kennedy in New Hampton on Oct. 2, 1929. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School, Columbia College, Dubuque and Marquette University Medical School (1929). With the exception of 3 1 /2 years during World War II when he served as a U.S. Army captain, Dr. Cal practiced medicine in Cedar Rapids all his life until retiring at age 82. Survivors include a daughter, Bernice Stark, San Diego, CA; two sons, Dick (Linda), Castle Rock, CO and Harry (Helen) Minneapolis. MN; a daughter-in-law, Eva Stark; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife, Alyce, in 1995; a son, Dr. Tom Stark, in 1998 and a brother, Edward.
