Roberson, Harvey R. 1917 - 2002JERICO — Harvey Raymond Roberson, 84, Jerico, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 at * Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton of natural causes. Funeral Services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3 at Jerico Lutheran Church, Jerico with Reverend Kent Dethlefsen officiating. Mary Beth Dethlefsen was the organist and accompanied those in attendance singing "Lift High The Cross", "For All The Saints", "I'm But A Stranger Here" and "There Is A Place;'. Burial was in the church cemetery with grandsons Scott Dahle, Tim Cutsforth, Stacey Dahle, Robert Roberson Jr., Wayne Haskovec, Tyler Haskovec, Chris Roberson and Daniel Stover serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were granddaughters, Ann Miles, Sarah Jane Burch, Stephanie Dahle, Alisa Roberson and Andrea Kolbet. Also serving as honorary casket bearers were Joe Sheehy, Rick Throndson, Alvin Paulson, John Costello, Art Valvoda and Charles Johnson. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton and an hour prior to services at the church. Harvey Raymond Roberson was born June 16, 1917 in rural Jerico, the son of Severt S. and Anna Sophia (Hildahl) Roberson. Fie was baptized and confirmed at Jerico Lutheran Church. He attended rural school at Paris #7 and graduated from New Hampton High School. He was united in marriage to S. Elouise Walters on Oct. 14, 1937 at the Jerico/Saude Church Parsonage. After their marriage the couple lived on the family farm and farmed there his whole life. He was active in Farm Bureau, served on the New Hampton School Board and on several committees of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Synod in Mankato, MN. Harvey also served several terms on the Howard County ASCS Committee. He was a lifelong member of Jerico Lutheran Church. Survivors include six children, Diane (Donald) Burch, Galena, IL; Jean Cutsforth, Cedar Falls, Betty (Bob) Arndt, Des Moines, Suzanne (Stewart) Stover, Rockford, IL, Robert (Marcia) Roberson, New Hampton and Sara (Wayne) Haskovec, Reinbeck; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Roberson, New Hampton and Thelma Roberson, Lufkin, TX and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, S. Elouise, on Nov. 22, 2001; two sisters, Bernice Haugen and Pearl Christensen and four brothers, Omar, Clarence, Norman and Roy. Memorials may be directed to the Jerico Lutheran Church.
