Parks, Donald T. 1939 - 2002NEW HAMPTON - Donald Thomas Parks, 62, New Hampton, died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Reverend Kent; Detnlefsen presiding. Carol Anderson will be organist and accompany soloist Travis Bousfea as he sings "Wind Beneath My Wings". Those in attendance will also sing "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art". Burial will be in New Hampton Cemetery with Francis Kramer, Keith Chambers, Sam Boos, Jim Stapleton, Charles Gebel, Don Winter, Reece Ball and Larry Hirsch serving as casket bearers. Honorary bearers will be John Carlson, Vern Laures; Roger Arnhalt and Jerry Quibel. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at Conwav-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton and also an hour before services at the church. Donald Thomas Parks was born July 1, 1939 in Sabula, the son of Thomas and Luella (Katz) Parks. He was a 1958 graduate of Fredericksburg High School and was married to Gloria Douglas Sept. 4, 1965 at Redeemer Church, New Hampton. He was employed at Clay Equipment in Waterloo and later worked at John Deere until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, riding his Harley Davidson and practicing and competing in archery at Ozzie's in Decorah. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; two daughters, Brenda and Rhonda Parks, both of New Hampton; one granddaughter, Aoby; his mother, Luella Parks, New Hampton; three sisters, Joan (Ray) Ball, Claudia Schueller and Doris (Chet) Finnegan, all of New Hampton and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father; his father-in-law, Bernard Douglas and two brothers-in-law, Bernard Beckman and Lawrence Schueller.
