Funeral services for Doris Meade of Iowa City were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Iowa City with Rev. James Vrba officiating. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery. Lensing Funeral Cremation Service handled the arrangements.

Doris, 71, died Wednesday, March 13 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.

Doris A. Meade was born September 15, 1930 in Iowa City, the daughter of Fred A. and Edith Mary (Cole) Kasper.

On January 8, 1951 she married John D. Meade at St. Wenceslaus Church in Iowa City. She was raised in the North Liberty area and was a 1948 graduate of University High School. She has been a resident of Iowa City since 1951. Prior to marriage she was employed by Northwestern Bell. She and her husband farmed in rural Johnson County.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and Iowa City Women of the Moose. She was an avid Hawkeye fan.

She is survived by her husband John D. of Iowa City; three sons: Lynn of Iowa City, Tim also of Iowa City, and John of Coralville; one daughter: Beverly Jean Meade of Cresco; five grandchildren; and one brother: Fred of Iowa City.

Doris was preceded in death by two grandchildren; and her parents.
