Kuennen, Raymond J. 1917 - 2002LAWLER — Raymond J. Kuennen, 85, Lawler, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at the New Hampton Care Center. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler with Marvin Salz officiating. Serving as lector will be John Cuvelier. Mass servers will be Kyle Kuehner, Matt Lynch and Jessica Kuehner. Gift bearers will be Virgil and Robert Kuennen and Madonna Stephen. Edna Reicks will be organist, accompanying Mike Winter and Daryl Kuehner as soloist. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Jodi Kuennen, Stacy Kuennen, Annie Stephen, Catherine Stephen, Jessica (Stephen) LeBar and Bryan LeBar as casket bearers. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. on Friday, March 8 at Hug.eback :F,iiner#K. Home, Lawler and one hour prior to service at the church. There will be a 4 p.m. Rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture Service on Friday. Raymond was born near St. Lucas on Jan. 27,1917, the son of John W. and Katherine (Cro-att) Kuennen. He attended St.Luke's School. He was united in marriage to Anna Kuehner on Feb. 14, 1939. They moved to a farm south of Lawler where he spent his entire married life. Ray loved farming and took pride in his crops and buildings. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Ray and Anna enjoyed playing cards, going on bus tours and playing bingo. Survivors include his wife, Anna: tvy.Q. sons, Virgil and Robert (Pauline), both of Lawler; one daughter, Madonna (Chris) Stephen, Iowa City, five grandchildren; one. brother, Al Kuennen, St. Lucas and two sisters, Minnie Kuehner, St. Lucas and Eleanor Huber, Fort Atkinson. Preceding him in death were his parents; a granddaughter, Rebecca Stephen; two brothers, Victor and one in infancy and three sisters, Clara Schmitt, Irmalinda Martin and Nettie Kittlesby. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
