Hilsman, Greg F. 1911 - 2002NEW HAMPTON - Greg F. Hilsman, 90, New Hampton, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002 a t Mercy Medical Center-New Hampton of natural causes. A Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary's Center, New Hampton with Reverend Carl Schmitt i presiding. Ann Bennet was the organist and accompanied the St, Mary's Resurrection Choir singing "All Creatures of Our God and King", "The Prayer of Saint Francis", "Gift of Finest Wheat" and "On Eagles Wings". Sr. Lois Erpedling was the Lector. Aaron Hilsman and Jaclyn v[Hilsrman] Hahn presented the offertory gifts. Interment was in the church cemetery with Virgil Hilsman, Dennis Hruska, Clarence Throndson, Ed Conway, Louis Zeien, and LavernHilsman serving as casket bearers. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton where there was a 4:30 p.m. Rosary and 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Gregory Francis Hilsman was born October 11, 1911, near North Washington, the son of Charles and Mary [Hentges] Hilsman. He received his education at St. Mary's School in North Washington. After his schooling he farmed with his father on the family farm. On November 16, 1936 he was united in marriage to Louise Cimmiyotti at Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington. Following their marriage, Greg and Louise farmed near North Washington until moving to New Hampton in 1984. Louise died March 7, 1998. Greg was a member of Holy Family Parish in New Hampton. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid baseball fan. Survivors include a son Dean Hilsman and his wife Kristin [Schultz] of Waterloo; 2 sisters Eleanor Gebel of Prairie du Chien, WI and Charlotte Conway of Elma. Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife Louise.
