NASHUA - Madelon A. Groen, 81, Nashua died Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at Bartel's Lutheran Home, Waverly of natural causes.

Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1 at St. John Lutheran Church, Nashua.

Burial was in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 .m. Friday, May 31 at Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home, Nashua and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Madelon was born Oct. 11, 1920 in Charles City, the daughter of Carl and Charlotte (Reetz) Beekman. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1938. She ^- married Arthur L. Groen at St. John's Lutheran Church in Charles City. She was a rural teacher in Floyd County for 31/2 years.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur, Nashua; two sons, Larry (Linda) Groen, Nashua ana Darrell (Juanita) Groen, Waverly; one daughter, Karla (Bruce) Croll, Urbandale; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Carlisle Beekman, Charles City and five sisters. Anna Mae Bahlmann, Nashua, Florence McGregor, Owatonna, MN, Doris Dana, Huntsville, AL, Marilyn Pencock, Lenox, SD and Marjorie Mitchell, Charles City.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Charlotte (Reetz) Beekman and Carl Beekman; her step-mother, Jennie (Schroeder) Beekman and a granddaughter, Sandy Groen.
