Donald L. Freerksen, 41, of rural Mantorville, Minn, died Friday, May 17, 2002 from injuries received in an auto accident at rural Byron, Minn.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at United Methodist Church in Kasson, Minn, with Pastor John Conklin officiating.

Donald was born September 27, 1960 in Osage, Iowa, son of Larry and Elaine Freerksen. He grew up in Riceville and graduated from Riceville High School in 1979. On August 16, 1980 he married Cynthia S. Duff in Riceville. He attained a BS degree from Iowa State University in Ames in 1984 in Electrical Engineering, and later obtained a Master Degree in Computer Science from NTU through IBM. Don had worked at IBM in Rochester, Minn, since 1984, as a senior program-mer/scientist. They lived in Rochester until moving to rural Mantorville in 1999. Don enjoyed golfing and fishing, as well as gambling.

Donald is survived by his parents; wife Cynthia; two sons, Sean Michael, 17, Dylan Lee, 15; and daughter, Shannon Nicole Freerksen, 14, all at home; one brother, Jason Freerksen of LeRoy, Minn.; four sisters, Vicki (Michael) Hungerford, Manly, Iowa, Patty (Scott) Priebe of Rochester, Kelly (Paul) Sivinton, Pleasant Hill, Iowa and Kristin (Jeff) Jones, St. Charles, Minn.
