Eide, Gail Arline nee Clark 1914 - 2002Gail Eide, 88, of Riceville, Iowa, died Sunday, March 24, 2002 at the Riceville Community Rest Home where she has lived since August 12, 1998. Funeral service was held Wednesday, March 27, at the Congregational Church in Riceville, Iowa, Pastor Gale Richards presiding. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville, with Conway Funeral Home in Riceville in charge of arrangements. Gail Arline Eide was born on February 21, 1914 at Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of Jerry and Cora (White) Clark. She attended the rural school and went to Riceville High School for a short period of time because she felt that it was more important to go to work. She started working at the Jamestown Cheese Factory when she was 15 years of age. Gail also started working as a nurse, even though she had no certified training. She worked in various homes helping with the sick and eventually started working with the doctor in the hospital and even making house calls with him. Finally she started working in he Riceville Nursing Home and had to become certified. Gail was united in marriage to James Eide on March 8, 1935 in Osage, Iowa by the Rev. Solum. They made their , home east of Riceville. Jim and Gail never had any children, but this did not deter her love for children. She was a lifelong member of the Congregational Church where she helped out whenever she could She was a member of the Golden Rule Circle. Gail moved into town after her husband died. . Gail is survived by four sisters-in-law, Yola Clark of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Irene Eide of Leland, Iowa, Frieda Eide of Riceville, Iowa and Mildred Krueger of Albert Lea, Minn.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James in February of 1972; one sister, Reva Clark; three brothers, Leslie, Samuel and Vemard Clark.
