Card, Kenneth 1907 - 2002NEW HAMPTON -- Kenneth Card, 95, of New Hampton, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at the New Hampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in New Hampton of natural causes. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 Saturday, January 4, 2003 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton with Reverend Marshall Monthei of the United Methodist Church officiating followed by a Masonic service. Kim Hilgendorf will be the organist and will accompany the vocalists, Peter & Phyllis Willadsen. Inurnment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford, IA. Friends may call an "hour prior to services at the funeral home. , Memorials may be directed to the Shriner's Hospital or the United Methodist Church in New Hampton. Kenneth Milton Card was born May 2, 1907, at Parkersburg, IA, the son of Ernest & Dora Floy (Owen) Card. He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1925, after taking a year off to support his brothers and sisters. He was united in marriage to Mae Ensign on October 10, 1936 in Brooking, SD. Following their marriage the couple lived in Parkersburg and Allison, where he began in the auto repair business. The couple later moved to New Hampton where he owned Card Motor Company and auto repair business, before retiring in May 1973. The couple was snowbirds, spending their winters going to the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas to a Mobile Home Villa for at least 20 years. When he visited his daughter in Texas, he relished going back and staying in the Park for a week to renew friendships. A celebration' of his 95 years with all his descendants in attendance was held in May 2002. Kenneth had resided in the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center since January of 2002. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in early years; after his retirement in Iowa he enjoyed fishing with Mae. Kenneth and Mae fished together for many years and he continued fishing, even last summer. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in New Hampton. Survivors include his 2 daughters Idella Fae (Dean) Boschult of Austin, TX, Karen Louise (Gregg) Wilson of Toddville, I A; 2 sons Duane Kenneth (Linda) Card of Windsor Locks, CT, Daryl Ernest (Rhonda) Card of Kansas City, MO; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Irene Doughtery of Windsor, CO, Alice Kauffman of Waterloo; and a brother Victor Card of Joshua Tree, CA. He also considered Stan Trask, Howard Bunger, and Don Schwickerath part of his extended family. Preceding him were his parents, wife Mae; 2 sisters Thelma DeVries, Vivian Card.
