Cahoy, Anne Mae nee Watzel c1910 - 2002FREDERICKSBURG - Anne Mae Cahoy, 92, Milwaukee, WI, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002 a t Clement Health Care Center, Milwaukee, WI of natural causes. Funeral Services will be l0 a..m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at St. Frederick's Catholic Church, Fredericksburg. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg., Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 and from 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home, Fredericksburg. There will be a 7 p.m. Scripture Service Friday evening at the funeral home. Anne Mae was born in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Felix and Anna (Riha) Watzel. At the age of two, she moved with her family to a homestead near Winner, SD. Her mother died when she was 13, leaving her to help care for her younger siblings. She graduated from Winner High School in 1928. Determined to maintain their Czech heritage, Anne's father encouraged his children to participate in gymnastics in the Sokol organization. In 1933 Anne represented South Dakota at the World's Fair in Chicago performing with Sokol athletes. Prior to her marriage she was employed at the Winner Court House. On June 1, 1938 Anne was united in marriage with John Cahoy at Immaculate Conception Church, Winner, SD. The following year they moved to a farm northeast of Fredericksburg and- then moved into Fredericksburg Ini;1954. Anne worked for Dr. A.R. Winter and also assisted in her husband's business, Mueller and Cahoy. Anrie enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. They spent their winter months in Florida for over 25 years. Anne spent many years caring for sick relatives and friends. Anne and her husband had been residing with her daughter in Wisconsin prior to moving into the health care center. Survivors include her husband, John; a son, Duane (Della) Cahoy, Sheridan, WY; a daughter, Shirley (James) Anderson, New Berlin, WI; four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren and one sister, Lillie Truhe, Rapid City, SC. Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Felix, Charles, Oscar and Edward Watzel and two - sisters, Mary Maulis and Dorothy Papousek. Source: New Hampton Tribune; Nov. 8, 2002 Page 4
