IONIA -- Nona A. Meyer, 87, Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Ionia and Oelwein, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001 in Punta Gorda.

A Memorial Service was held Nov. 24 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services in Punta Gorda.

Nona was born July 19, 1914 in Charles City, the daughter of Guy and Amy Ames, Sr. She worked as a legal secretary and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, Hickory Grove Country Club, Elks Ladies Auxiliary and several card clubs while living in Oelwein. She relocated to Punta Gorda 20 years ago.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, John L. (Jack) Meyer of 2303-B Riverside Dr., Punta Gorda, FL 33950-4362; a daughter, Kathryn Morning, North Liberty; two sons, Robert J. Meyer, Lake City, MN and Roger J. Meyer, Dubuque; a sister, Leone Keating, Boone; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Guy Ames Jr. and Wayne Ames.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
