WOOGE, Evelyn A. nee WILLIAMS 1933 - 2001OSCEOLA -- Evelyn A. Wooge, 67, formerly of New Hampton, died Monday, April 23, 2001 at the Westbriage Care Center in Winterset after an extended illness with cancer. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 26 at 9:30 a.m. at the Osceola United Methodist Church with Rev. James Louk and Rev. L. Duane Churchman officiating. Belva White was organist and vocalist was Karla Tripp. Musical selections included "Hymn of Promise”, "My Tribute’’, "When We All Get to Heaven", "I'll Fly Away", "Amazing Grace" and "Abide With Me". Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Osceola, with Tim Andrews, Eddie Benda, Gayle Mathes, Richard Taylor, ,Victor Lamb and Herb Spickard as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Rod Williams, Randy Lamb, Bill Tripp, Dwight Williams, Martin Sanders ana Kurt Viktor. Visitation was Wednesday, April 25 at the Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Evelyn was born Aug. 15, 1933 in Leon, the daughter of Paul Kermit and Helen (Lamb) Williams. She received her education in the public schools of Leon and Osceola, Elm Country School in Decatur County and Lineville High School. She married Donald E. Wooge on July 14, 1965 at Eagleville, MO. Don's ministry took their family to many locations, including New London, New Hampton, Peterson, Mechanicsville, Muscatine and Brandon. They have resided in Osceola since 1993. During their marriage, Evelyn and Donald were foster parents of over 30 children. She was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society and United Methodist Women. She was interested in art and music and taught many classes in the art of Tole and Canvas painting. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline singing group and played handbells in several different choirs. Surviving are a son, Daniel (Jan) Conner, Muscatine; two daughters, Peggy (Tim) Wood, Glendale, AZ and Jacki (Matt) Beckman, New Hampton; two stepdaughters, Joann (Gary) O’Brien ana Linda (John) Evers, Independence; one stepson, Mark Wooge, Omaha, NE; two grandsons; four stepgrand-chilaren; two stepgreat-grand-daughters; two sisters, Lyla Gene (Tim) Andrews, Walnut Grove, MO and Karen (Irvin) Taylor, New Virginia. Preceding her in death were her husband, Rev. Donald Wooge; parents; two brothers, Dale Adriel Williams and Vernal Arnan Williams. Memorials may be made to the Osceola United Methodist Church, Westbridge Care Center in Winterset or the Middle River Hospice in Winterset.
