TORRISON, Reginald Rev. 1934 - 2001Services were held for Rev. Reginald N. Torrison on Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeRoy. The Reverends Thomas Kolden, Tim Nelson, Clay Ellingson and Dr. Steven Haggmark officiated. Burial was held in the St. Ansgar Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar, Iowa at 3 p.m. Mr. Torrison was born November 8, 1934 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Norman and Lillian (Skatrud) Torrison. He was baptized December 1, 1934 at his parents home by E.A. Fretheim and confirmed June 5, 1949 at Valders West Lutheran Church. He graduated from Valders High School June 4, 1952 and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa June 4, 1956 and on June 30, 1956 he was united in marriage to June Tesch at the First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa. Reg taught vocal and instrumental music in LeRoy, Minn., from 1956-1967. He left in 1967 to attend Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., until 1970. During that time he served as a student assistant and Director of Choirs at Salem Lutheran Church, West St. Paul and from 1970 to 1974 he was associate Pastor at Salem. From 1974 to 1980 he was Pastor at Evanger Lutheran Church in Sargeant, Minn., and in 1980 he was Senior Pastor at St. John’s Lutheran in Rosemount, a position he held until 1990, at which time he became Senior pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield, Minn., where he served until his retirement in 1997. After his retirement he served as interim pastor of Henrytown Lutheran Church in Canton, Minn., and St. Paul’s Maple Leaf Lutheran Church, Elma, Iowa. Reg was the founding director of the Forte Milers Barbershop Chorus, director of The Country Gentlemen Male Chorus and was a member of Pops of Note, Saints of Harmony and Jolly Fishermen Quartets. He was a member of MMEA, MEA, NEA, AOPA and also a member of Rosemount Chamber of Commerce. He served as a Scoutmaster and was also active in the LeRoy Community Theater. He was the Wing Chaplain of The Civil Air Patrol -Minnesota with ranks of Chaplain Major and served on Boards of Lake Wapogasset Bible Camp and Good Earth Village. Rev. Torrison is survived by his wife June of LeRoy, 2 sons. Jeffrey (Deann) Torrison of Plymouth, Minn.; Dr. Jerry (Nancy) Torrison of St. Peter, Minn.; a daughter Jill (Jeffrey) Evenson, Virginia Beach, Virg. Eight grandchildren': Jacob, Leah, Tyler, Lillian, Gabriel and Jessica Torrison, Garrett and Ethan Evenson. A brother; Ronald (Connie) Torrison of Manitowoc, Wis. Sisters-in-law: Joyce (Richard) Jaspers, Greene, Iowa, and Joanne Oilman,of Munster, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
