THOME, Wava Mae nee KRUMLINDE 1914 - 2001/Thome, 86, Osage, died Saturday, May 5, 2001 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home, Stacyville. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 7 at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. Wava was born Aug. 19, 1914 in Dike, the daughter of Harvey and Alta (Lynn) Krumlinde. The family moved to the Floyd area in 1928 and later to Mitchell County where Wava completed her eighth grade education. She was united in marriage with Roman Thome on April 6, 1942 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer. The couple lived in the Osage area, moving into Osage in 1967. In the early years of her marriage, Wava mid-wifed and helped many young mothers with their children. She was a cook at the Mitchell County Care Facility and at the Sacred Heart Catholic School for 14 ears. She also cooked at the nights of Columbus Hall, catered weddings and in the summers cooked at the Faith Lutheran Home. After her retirement in 1978, she assisted many elderly people with daily chores and errands. Wava was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, the Sacred Heart Guild and had been a Brownie Troop Leader. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, especially flowers, and spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband, Roman; two daughters, Joeleen (Richard) Samec, New Hampton, Deanna (Michael) Shoars, Orchard; five grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ruth Krumlinde, Cedar Falls; many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Marian; two brothers, Kenneth and Richard.
