Bette Helen Teall, age 78, died June 3, 2001 from heart failure in Vencor Hospital, Ontario, CA.

Funeral services are set for Saturday, June 9, 2001 at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage. Interment will follow in St. Ansgar.

She was born in Northwood, Iowa and attended high school there before attending the University of Iowa. She taught in Iowa and Florida before coming to California. Bette was employed by the San Bernardino City Unified School District as a teacher and counselor for 32 years.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in San Bernardino, the University of Iowa Alumni Association, the California Retired Teachers Association and San Bernardino Riverside County Counselors Association. She was active in environmental and animal issues and was a member of several related organizations.

Preceding her in death were her father and mother, Thomas and Ida Teall of Osage; a brother Robert R. Teall of Orlando, FL and sister Helen McWilliams of Osage.

Those that survive her include her sister Dorothy Goad of Cloquet, MN; nieces, Martha Briggs Curcio of Sugar Grove, IL, Mary McWilliams of Cedar Rapids, Vicki Olson of Indianola, 1A, Spring Rosen of Sanibel Island, FL, Leslie Hill of Ocala, FL, nephew Paul McWilliams of Loveland, CO, brother-in-law Harold McWilliams of Osage and many loving friends.

A scholarship has been established in Bette Teall’s name at the University of Iowa Foundation, P.O. Box 4550, Iowa City, Iowa 52244. Memorials may be sent to the foundation or the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley.
