STEINLAGE, Leo E. 1934 - 2001NEW HAMPTON ~ Leo E. Steinlage, age 66, of New Hampton, died Thursday, July 12 at his home after a brief illness. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Harhpton with Rev. Carl Schmitt celebrating. Lector was Dan Michels. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Kelli Steinlage, Vicki Michels and Tyler Weisenstein. Music was provided by Ann Bennett as organists, Bill Roths and Karen Schwickerath as vocalists. Interment was in the St. Mary's Cemetery with Dennis Steinlage, Darren Steinlage, Dan Steinlage, Daryl Steinlage, Russ Weisenstein, Nathan Bock, John Hayen and Dan Michels as pallbearers. Visitation was Monday at Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton. Leo was born August 21,1934 in St. Lucas, the son of Anton and Julia (Langreck) Steinlage. He attended St. Lukes Grade School and High School where he graduated in 1^52. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1956-1957. On August 3, 1959 at the St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Ossian he married Corinna Imoehl. The couple lived and farmed near St. Lucas for a brief period and then lived 9 years at Festina. They moved to their current home in 1971. Leo worked for Roth and Associates, Storm Lake until 1980. He then began as a general contractor known as L & C Builders. In 1999 he began L S Supply and Rental in New Hampton. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and Knights of Columbus #1697 in New Hampton. Leo enjoyed traveling and going to his grandchildren's events. Survivors include his wife; Corrina; four sons; Dan Steinlage, Daryl, Dennis (Sherry) and Darren (Jessica) all of New Hampton; four daughters; Denise Bock of Charles City, Darla Weisenstein (Russ), Ventura; Diann Michels (Dan), Lakewood, WA and Dora Hayen (John) Charles City; 13 grand children. Four brothers; Ferdinand (Margaret) of New Hampton, Florian (Leona) of West Union, Anthony (Monica) of Decorah and Nicholas (Dorothy) of West Union; three sisters; Rosemary Bouska (John) of Hawkeye, Elizabeth Matt (Albert) of Clermont and Francelia Matt (Arthur) of Castalia. Preceding him in death were his parents; Anton and Julia Steinlage; one brother, Herman and one grandson Luke Weisenstein on November 1, 1998.
