SPEICHER, Donald Eugene 1921 - 2001FREDERICKSBURG - Donald Eugene Speicher, 80, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001 at Allen Hospital, Waterloo. Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church, Fredericksburg with Reverend Carlene Appel officiating. Music was provided by Brenda Speicher organist. Congregational songs included "Amazing Grace" and "I Know Whom I Have Believed". Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with casket bearers Dan Bequeaith, Erin Hoskins, Jeremy Cockayne, Chris Boom, Amy Boom, Jennifer Speicher and Nathan Speicher. Don was born March 22,1921 in Chickasaw County, the son of Charles and Winnie (Margin) Speicher. He attended a country school Southeast of Fredericksburg. He was united in marriage to Edna Elizabeth Vetter on March 16, 1947 at St. John's United Church of Christ/Pleasant Hill, Nashua. Don farmed southwest of Fredericksburg for 40 years, retiring in 1980 and moving into town. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and snowmobiler. Survivors include his wife, Edna; four children, Dixie (John) Bequeaith, Polk City, LuAnn (Dale) Boom, Urbandale, Kay (Rich) Musal, Norwalk and Tim (Cheryl) Speicher, Oklahoma, City, OK; ten grandchildren; a brother, Roy Speicher, Fredericksburg and a sister, Pearl Steege, Fredericksburg. Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Vera Whitnable and Winifred Elliott and three brothers, Earl) Leo and Gene Speicher.
