SCHMIDT, Lori Ann nee GILBERT 1963 - 2001NEW HAMPTON - Lori Ann Schmidt, 38, New Hampton, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001 at her home of cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Hampton with Rev. Carl Schmitt celebrating the Mass. Music will be provided by Ann Bennett as organist and the St. Mary's Choir. Lectors for the service will be Marcia Schmidt and Lorna Gorman. The pall will be placed on the casket by her four brothers and two sis-i ters. The offertory gifts will be presented by her nieces, Christine and Kellie Gilbert. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with Bill Schmidt, Tom Schmidt, David Schmidt, Roger Dreckman, Tim Alex and Kyle Tougas as pallbearers. Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture Service and a 7:30 p.m. Video Memorial Tribute. Lori Ann was born March 16, 1963 in New Hampton, the daughter of LeRoy and Alma (Langreck) Gilbert. She was a 1981 graduate of New Hampton High School. She attended Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls for two years, studying fashion design. On May 26, 1984 she married Carl (Cubby)Schmidt at St. Mary's Catholic church, New New Hampton . Lori stayed home with her young boys and also did daycare for area families for a period of time and had been an employee of Pamida for the past 5 1/2 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rosary Society and a former member of the New Hampton Women of Today. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends, camping and attending ren-dezvous events. Survivors include her husband, Cubby; four sons, Caleb, Mitchell, Eric and Coltin, at home; her mother, Alma Gilbert, Charles City; four brothers, Denis (Rita) Gilbert, Omaha, NE, Gary (Pam) Gilbert, Rudd, Alan (Ruth) Gilbert, Ionia and Warren (Jean) Gilbert . Plymouth two sisters Ardell (David) Stoller, Jupiter, FL and Diane (Kevin) Swan, Spring Hill, KS. Preceding her in death were her father, Leroy Gilbert and a sister, Emily Gilbert.
