SALVHUS, Leona nee THRONDSON 1909 - 2001FOSSTON, MN — Leona Salvhus, 92, formerly of McIntosh, MN, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001 at Midway Care Center, Fosston. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, McIntosh with Rev. Elton Jorde officiating. Burial was in Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery, McIntosh. Pall bearers were Mark Bingham, Scott Bingham, Brady Maruska, Steve Curtis, Lee Forsberg, Thess Benzel and Kenneth Benzel. Honorary pallbearers were all of Leona's relatives and friends. Visitation was from 5-7 .m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer ervice on Monday, Aug. 13 at the McIntosh Community Center and one hour prior to the service at the cnurch on Tuesday. The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston was in charge of arrangements. Leona was born on Aug. 10, 1909 in Lawler, the daughter of Andrew and Laura (Lee) Throndson. She attended school in rural Chickasaw County. She was baptized and confirmed at Crane Creek Lutheran Church. On March 3, 1932 she was united in marriage to George Salvhus at Crane Creek Lutheran Church, Lawler. Leona was active in women's activities in her church. She enjoyed knitting and sewing. She became a resident of the Midway Care Center in 1993. Survivors include one son, Andrew (Donna), Osakis, MN; two daughters, Bergetta (Bill) Bingham, Fosston, MN and Laura (Larry) Evans, McIntosh, MN; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her husband, George, in 1981; her parents; one grandson; two great-grandsons and five sisters, Ruth, Jeanette, Ella, Christine and Agnes, all of Iowa.
