RECKNER, Dale M. 1929 - 2001Dale M. Reckner, 72, of Rock Falls, Iowa, died Monday, August 27, 2001, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Memorial services were held Friday at Major Erickson Funeral Home in Rock Falls with Rev. Douglas Anderson of the First United Methodist Church of Mason City officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Dale M. Reckner was born Jan. 19, 1929, in rural Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Harry E. and Alvina (Rieken) Reckner. He attended rural Mitchell County schools. Following school he went to work for Jacob B. Decker and Sons. He was united in marriage to Helen June Abben on April 27, 1949, at the Little Brown Church. They lived in Mason City for two years before making their home in Rock Falls. He retired from Armour in 1990 after many years of service. Besides the work he did for Armour, he enjoyed the jobs he found steam fitting and plumbing. He enjoyed wintering in Texas, fishing, but most of all he loved aeronautics. He was a member of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). He earned his pilot license at the age of 16. Those thankful for experiencing his love include sons, Dean Reckner and wife Bette of West Des Moines, and David Reckner and wife Mardell of Plymouth; daughters, Connie Bram and husband Dana of Lawrence, Kan., and Karen Hamilton and husband Tim of Alburnett; spare daughter, Lora Broadhurst and husband Alan of Pocatello, Idaho; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Shirley Fisera and husband Henry of Osage; Mavis Wieland and husband Howard of Osage. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Helen in June 2000.
