PICKAR, Joanna Marie nee RAUSCH 1929 - 2001SUMNER - Joanna M. Pickar, 71, Sumner, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo following a lengthy illness. A Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sumner, with Rev. John Purtell presiding. Music was provided py the Immaculate Conception Church Choir. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Sumner, with Patrick Wolf, Chad Miller, Tony Hoth, Ryan Strempke, Ben Schroeder and Eric Pickar as casket bearers. Flower Committee was Stacie Schroeder, Jennifer Strempke and Heidi Westenaorf. Visitation was from 4-8 m. Friday, March 30 at Becker-ilnes Funeral Home in Sumner, with a 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Joanna Marie Rausch was born Nov. 24, 1929 at New Hampton, the daughter of John and Anna (Glaser) Rausch. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Mary's High School, North Washington. On July 6, 1948 she was united in marriage with Bernard Pickar at Ionia. Joanna was a resident of Sumner for many years, where she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Surviving are four sons, Edward (Ranae) Pickar, Sturgis, SD, Duane (Sandra) Pickar, Radcliffe, KY, Daid (Ruth) Pickar, Sumner and Kevin Pickar, Owen, WI; six daughters, Audrey (Bill) Miller, Anoka, MN, Deborah (Keith) Wolf, Osage, Norma (Tom) Woodcock, Westgate, Judy (Troy) Schott, West Union, Joan Strempke, Summerville, SC and Julie Westendorf, Sumner; 26 grandchildren; seven stepgrand-children; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph (Mary Jane) Rausch, New Hampton; one sister, Margaret Wegner, New Hampton; a special friend, Bill Lalk, Sumner. Preceding her in death were her husband, Bernard on May 3, 1981; one grandson, Thomas Holt; her parents; four brothers, Leander "Mickey", Louis, Edwin and Vincent.
