PETERMAN, Betty Jean nee MOODY nee SLICK 1926 - 2001WATERLOO - Betty Jean Peterman, 75, formerly of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, March 15, 2001 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2001 at Hillcrest Baptist and Brethren Church, Fredericksburg with Pastor Milton D. Johnson officiating. Music was provided by Brencia Speicher as organist and vocalists Kristie Moody and Nicole Becker singing "Softly and Tenderly", "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere", "How Great Thou Art", "Because He Lives" and "In The Garden" Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg with casket bearers Kenny Moody, Kristie Moody, Toni Alexander, Troy Moody, Tim Moody, Shannon Schoonover, Angie Moody, Ryan Moody, Nicole Becker and Brent Schmadeke, all grandchildren. Betty was born Jan. 28, 1926 in New Hampton, the daughter of Elmer and Hazel (Aimers) Slick. She attended elementary and high school in Fredericksburg. She was united in marriage to Earl Moody in New Hampton on Aug. 22,1945. They were later divorced. Betty was employed at Ott & Forsman and also owned and operated the Hi way Cafe in Fredericksburg for a time. She lived in Fredericksburg until 1979 when she moved to Waterloo. She married Harley Peterman on March 24, 1980 in Waterloo. She was employed at Ravenwood Health Care Center as a certified nurse's aide, retiring in 1993. She was a member of Hillcrest and Baptist Brethren Church, Fredericksburg and was baptized in the river by Rev. U. E. Burrows. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, fishing, camping and making quilts. Survivors include her husband; three children, Ronald (Judy) Moody, Fredericksburg, David (Anna) Moody, Prairie du Chien, WI and Kathy (Richard) Schmadeke, Fredericksburg; five stepchildren, Roger Peterman, Waterloo, Kevin Peterman, Waterloo; Connie McBeath, MS; Gary Peterman, Cedar Falls, Sherrie Boone, Denver; ten grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; one step greatgrandchild; four sisters, Cleora Jordan, Frederika, Jean Wes-brook, Cedar Rapids, Dorothy Griesert, Fredericksburg and Peggy On ken, Tucson, AZ; three brothers, Wayne Slick and Richard Slick, both of New Hampton and Bob Slick, Salinas, CA. Preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Harlan ana John Moody; two brothers, Howard and Charles Slick and two sisters, Algena Hatcher and Joan Zeien.
