ORT, Oliver William 1923 - 2001NASHUA - Oliver W. Ort, 78, died Thursday, March 15, 2001 at his home. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 19 at the First Congregational Church, Nashua with Pastor David Fye officiating. Music was provided by Betty Orric as organist accompanying the choir and congregation singing "In The Garden", "Savior Again To Thy Dear Name", and "Til We Meet Again". Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua with casket bearers Herbert Terrill, Don Acke'rson, Fred Tirnmer, Hans Terrill, Lester Taylor and Tim Fisher. Honorary casket bearers were Niels Hvitved, Robert Mussehl and Donald Hunt. Oliver William Ort was born Jan. 10, 1923 in Sabetha, KS, the son of Alvin and Emilie (Jaster) Ort. He moved to Guernsey, WY with his family in 1929 and graduated from Guernsey High School. He was united in marriage to Florence Lambert on Feb. 2, 1942. She died Dec. 24, 1965. Oliver married Janis Parks on June 22, 1966 in Guernsey, WY. He worked at the Equity Co-op and Lumber Co. for 18 years and was a self-employed carpenter and part owner and operator of P.O.P.'s Hardware from 1973 to 1977. He was active in his church where he served as president of the Board of Deaconate. He also served on the city council for a number of vears and was a member of the Odd Fellows. He loved fishing at his summer home on the Mississippi River. Survivors include his wife, Janis; a daughter, Emilie Watson, Nashua; a step-son, Roderick (Hazel) Parks, Douglasville, GA; step-daughters, Rosalee (Lee) Wagner, Ellenwood, GA and Mary Jean Parks, Nashua; one brother, Henry (Annabeth) Ort, Casper, WY; four sisters, Bertha (Clarence) Stellpflug, Guernsey, WY; Helen Decker, Casper, WY; Dorothy (Bob) McNeils, Powell, WY and Lillian Zalewski, Powell, PA; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-faw and six brothers-in-law. Preceding him in death were a step-son, Merlin Parks; his parents and a sister, Ruth Tredman.
