MANDERFIELD, William U. 1906 - 2001NEW HAMPTON - William Manderfield, 94, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Hampton of natural causes. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hampton with Reverend Carl Schmitt officiating. Sr. Lorraine Loecher was the organist and accompanied the St. Joseph Resurrection Choir singing ''On Eagle's Wings", "Psalm 27", "Peace Is Flowing Like A River", "Gift Of Finest Wheat", "How Great Thou Art". Gail Ives was the cantor. Lectors were Sharon Thornton, Shirley Abdo, Deb Schildroth and Denise Burrett. Gift bearers were DeVere Manderfield and Germaine Klotz. Wiliam's family placed the pall. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, New Hampton with Loren, Don and Jim Manderfield and Rick, Roger and Ron Haugen serving as casket bearers, honorary casket bearers were the Knights of Columbus Council 1697. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at Conway funeral Home, New Hampton, where there was a 4:30 p.m. combined Rosary Society, Knights of Columbus and CD of A Rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture Visitation was also prior to services at the church. William U. Manderfield was born Aug. 28, 1906 near St. Lucas, the son of William and Margaret (Balk) Manderfield. He attended St. Luke's Catholic School in St. Lucas. On Jan. 31, 1928 he was united in marriage to Celia (Kurash) at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Celia; one son, DeVere (Virginia) Manderfield, St. Lucas; one daughter, Germaine Klotz, New Hampton; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Clarence Haugen; one brother, Reginald Manderfield, Fayette and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Joe Manderfield; one • daughter, Beverly Haugen; two sisters, Marie Mihm and Angeline Manderfield and three brothers, Julius, Leander and Sylverius.
