MALOY, Vada Ellen nee FEE 1915 - 2001WAVERLY'--Vada Ellen Maloy, 86, Waverly, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly from complications of a stroke. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m. at Heritage United Methodist Church, rural Waverly, with Pastor Nathan N. Frazee officiating, and greeting from Bartels with Pastor Keith Tomlinson. Burial was in the Horton Cemetery, Horton. Visitation was held Friday, Sept. 28 from 2-8 p.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, and also one hour before services on Saturday at the church. Vada was born on Jan. 19, 1915 in Nora Springs, the daughter of Fred and Ellen Mae (Miner) Fee. She attended school in South Dakota, graduating from Fairburn High School in 1931. Vada then attended Nashua Normal School, Nashua where she received her teaching certificate. Following her schooling, Vada worked as a telephone operator in Nashua. On Jan. 19,1937, she was united in marriage with Raymond H. Maloy in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple started farming north of Waverly. In the early 1970's, she and Raymond started spending their winters in Fulton, TX. Raymond died in 1991, and Vada continued to live on the farm until she became a resident of the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in 1998. Vada was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, Waverly, the Bremer County Farm Bureau Women and the Gem & Mineral Society in Charles City. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, rocks (Agates) and spending time with her family. Survivors include five children: George (Judy) Maloy, New Hampton; Ellen (Dale) Calease, Bonnie (Ken) Dahlstrom and Nancy (Gary) Smith, all of Waverly and Mary Eick, LaCrosse, Wl; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne (Lorraine) Fee, Las Vegas, NV and Ken (Pearl Ann) Fee, Port Orchard, WA and a sister, Winifred Prouty, Nashua. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Raymond; a son, David Maloy in 1967; a great-granddaughter, Tawny Bethany in 1995 and a sister, Lena Campbell. Memorials may be directed to either the Bartels Lutheran Chaplaincy Fund or Heritage United Methodist Church.
