HIRSCH, Corrine D. nee DEETZ 1920 - 2001NEW HAMPTON ~ Corrine D. Hirsch, 80, died Sunday-, Aug. 19, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at St. John's Lutheran Churcn, Stapleton, rural Waucoma, with Pastor David Bergstrom officiating. Organist was Eva Mae Niewoehner. Hymn selections included "For the Beauty of the Earth", "Just As I Am" and "Amazing Grace". Interment was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Waucoma, with Michael Crooks, Nicholas Hirsch, Richard Crooks, Eric Sowers, Luke Hirsch, Brian -.Phillips, Steven Phillips, Matt Hirsch, Bill Franzen, Neil Sowers and Tony Sowers serving as casket bearers. Corrine Darlene Deetz was born Sept. 17, 1920 in Stapleton Township, Chickasaw County, Iowa, the daughter of Wilhelm Martin and Leta (Fedeler) Deetz. She lived in New Hampton with her grandparents during her high school years, graduating from New Hampton High School in 1938. She was united in marriage with Harold F. Hirsch on Dec. 31, 1938 in Minneapolis, MN. Corrine worked at Hinson Manufacturing in Waterloo for a year. The couple farmed in the Frederika, Plainfield, Waucoma and Lawler areas. After retiring they remained on their farm near Lawler. Harold died Dec. 26, 1994. At this time Corrine moved to New Hampton. Declining health caused her to enter the New Hampton Care Center on Nov. 26,1997. Surviving are her seven children and their spouses, Shirley (Carl) Crooks, Ionia, Ellanor (Russ) Phillips, Frederika, Marlys (Jeff) Sowers, Milo, Terry (Candy) Hirsch, Fredericksourg, Kevin (Lori) Hirsch, Waucoma, Myron (Deb) Hirsch, Mabel, MN, Renae (Jim) Farrell, New Hampton; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorene Johnson, Dumont, Marion Franzen, Fort Atkinson; two brothers, Vern Deetz and Arnold (Grace) Deetz, Charles City. Preceding her in death were her husband, Harold; her parents; a brother, Leo Deetz in 1994; two brothers-in-law, Chuck Johnson and Ray Franzen.
