HEINS, Welmer Carl 1916 - 2001POSTVILLE - Welmer Heins, 84, a resident of the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of Postville, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at the nursing home. Funeral services , were held Friday, April 6 at 1 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville with Rev. Robert Hupp officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Monona with Wayne Olson, Michael Olson, Mark Olson, Scott Olson, Larry Knock and Craig Mundt as casket bearers. Welmer Carl Heins, the son of Ed and Clara Leonora (Kuthe) Heins, was born Dec. 10, 1916 in Giard Township, Clayton County, near Monona. He was baptized April 3, 1917 by the Rev. E. Schmidt and confirmed March 13, 1932 by the Rev. H. P. Kumpf. Wilmer attended the Pleasant Grove County School near Luana. He worked as a farm hand in the Postville and Clermont areas. He was also employed at the Rural Electric Cooperative in Postville and worked for the railroad, building tracks in the Dakotas and other areas. Welmer had lived in Postville since 1980 and became a resident of the nursing home in New Hampton on Nov. 22, 2000. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Surviving are two brothers, Harvey E. Heins, New Hampton and Harold G. Heins, Clermont; two sisters, Aleta L. (Roger) Reeder, Elgin and Darlene A. Heins, New Hampton; also many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents.
