HANSON, Orville M. 1926 - 2001NEW HAMPTON ~ Orville Hanson, 75, New Hampton, died Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN of natural causes. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 25 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New • Hampton with Rev. David Bergstrom officiating. Edith Koltnoff will be organist and accompany soloist Jean Cerwinske singing ’’On Eagle's Wings" and "Friends Are Friends Forever". Those in attendance will sing "Beautiful Savior". Maria Steenhard will be the cross bearer. Burial will be in the New Hampton Cemetery with Greg, Adam, Russell, Tony, Jeremy, Teresa Hanson and Ashley Steenhard serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Brock, Grant, Steve, Scott, Tim, Brad, Randy, Kristi and Jenny Hanson. The New Hampton American Legion and VFW Posts will provide graveside military honors. Visitation was from 3-8 .m. Thursday, May 24 at onway Funeral Home in New Hampton and also an hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Orville Mervin Hanson was born April 15, 1926 at Bode, the son of Mandious and Johanna (Torkelson) Hanson. He attended country school near his home. Upon completion of his schooling, Orville farmed with his father on the family farm. On March 28, 1951 he was inducted into the U.S. Army, then transferred to the Army Reserve on March 22,1953 and was honorably discharged on March 25, 1957. After returning home from the service, Orville continued farming. On Dec. 9,1956 he was uniteed in marriage with Shirley Buschbom at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Charles City. The couple farmed near Bode and LuVerne, moving to a farm near Lawler in 1965. In 1974 he moved to New Hampton where he was currently residing. After moving to New Hampton, Orville continued farming and also worked for Sara Lee, Mel Reicks and Alvin Gilbert. He was. a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed working, gardening and visiting. Surviving are two sons, Darrell (Lori) Hanson, New Hampton, Jim (Lisa) Hanson, Roscoe, IL; one daughter, Kathy Hanson (Louie), New Hamptpn; 17 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; his fiancee, Glory Anderson, New Hampton; five sisters, Jeannette Carlson, Rock Island, IL, Arlene Blumer, Loveland, CO, Marie Valentine, Council Bluffs, Clara Tetter, Janesville, WI, Charlotte Carson, Bode; three brothers, Clarence, Merle and Edward Hanson; his mother and father-in-law, Orlando and Margaret Buschbom, Charles City. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Shirley on May 11, 1995; one brother, John Hanson.
